I was backing out of a parking spot and scraped a yellow post. Is there anything I can use to try and get that paint transfer off without stripping the cars paint off

By 'yellow post', you mean 'yellow car', right? :rolf

Sorry, this really isn't a helpful post.... (and by 'post', I mean post)

Joe I am in Charlotte right now so unless you are gonna make a trip. I know it is just a rental but the less they see the better.

Will something like goo gone work as well. I need to pry the dent out a little bit as well

I wouldn't do the oven cleaner one, it might eat at the paint. You might try some polishing compound and try and get it off that way. Did you get the insurance they offer?

ok didnt know you were out of town. i actually used goo gone once on my T/A where i got scraped on the passenger door. and it seemed to work good.

it didnt harm the paint at all. i did wash it off right of way and waxed it but most of the scrape came off except for the deep scratches obviously.

first use some mineral spirits on a soft cloth, then take some wax with a lil bit of elbow grease if you don't have a buffer to clean it up.

Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. My wife used to hit the garage opening all the time and it took about 20 minutes each time to take the extra paint off the clear. Walmart has it.

Meguiar's Cleaner Wax (safe and effective)
MAAS Metal Polish (contains mineral spirits, so work fast)
GUNK Cleaner Degreaser (this will take paint off, sparingly Applied to Rag)

Outside of that ?

Gas would have worked just fine, I've used it many times.
Anything with solvents in it really.

You can rub it out by hand using 3M compound. I have a big bottle and if you want to bring the car over by me we can give it a try. If that doesnt work I have a buffer.

Thanks but as I mentioned earlier I was in Charlotte with a rental car. Got her cleaned up with Goo Gone and got the dent straigtened out. They didn't even notice this morning when I returned it. :thumbsup

Ha! the wife and I didn't even bother trading hers in when we just bought her new vehicle. We knew we wouldn't get shit for it so now we have one of those sitting in our driveway taking up space.

Its our "backup car" now I guess, incase my garbage breaks down. :durr

Those ones just have no get up and go and they just don't drive right in my opinion. Mine made all kinds of weird noises. It is really weird when you start the car and it feels like you have a big block in the car because it is vibrating pretty good and then you realize that isn't the case, makes you wonder what is really wrong

Oh shit man, my wifes is a 98 and that thing is about as slow as a thunderbird turbo coupe without the turbo. Its severly under powered.

Hers runs great with around 134k on the dial but its a slug and it also makes all sorts of weird ass noises and rides like shit. Also you would think by its size the the cockpit should be roomy? Think again, not so.
