Ha, I wish... We get calls for Toothaches, Hang nails, etc daily. As a matter of fact one time the guy told me he had it for 3 weeks and finally at 3:25 AM on a Sunday he couldn't possibly stand it anymore and needed an ambulance. So we gotta send em.

Out of work, my position was eliminated in October, was there 3.5 years as a staff accountant.

There certainly are jobs out there but alot more competition too. The market isn't great. I hope people who think its easy out there don't lose their position  .

Jobs are out there, people just dont look hard enough.

Wish that were true up here. We've had over 2500 people lose their jobs in Marathon County in the last year. There is nothing for work up here and its getting worse by the week. The 3 largest factories in Wausau have laid off about 1000 just between the 3 of them. Luckily I'm high enough up in seniority that I should be safe, but in our other Union guys lost their jobs with 18+ years seniority.

We are going crazy. The way it looks we may need to hire a couple new guys soon. I work for a small company, only there one year and second in command.

depending on what field your in as far as construction goes.. get ready for one slow summer if things dont pick up on my end.. "architect/draftspersons" the medical end of things is doing "ok" but everything else is really really scary slow

Both my wife and I are still employed. We have been with our current employers for ~5 years a piece.

Work has been quieter the last two months, but I was also working ~2900-3200 hours a year for 4 of the last 5 years. I am relaxing with 40 hours, but there has been a noticable decline in field environmental engineering jobsites since the end of December.

As for transmissions, I had a shitton of quotes over the winter, and I am starting to see a nice increase in actual purchases and rebuilds, so YAY.

Yesterday as I pull into the parking lot of work and notice cars there that should not be there this week. Turns out the bosses decided to just lay off a bunch of people and have them call in on Fridays to see if they come to work on Monday. Only six people are working in a plant that usually has 30 people on the floor. I is skurd!

Well, my time is coming to an end with Metalcraft. They keep telling me " Atleast you still have a job. " What they leave in the fine print is the fact that I will be getting a pay cut that works out to about $3.60 less PER HOUR, I have to work 4 more hours per week, and oh yea, 2 more days a week. All hours of which I will now be working will be 3rd shift. What a deal.

Not that I haven't been looking for a different job as I kinda figured this was coming, the search is on.
