Pictures from Rolex 24 at Daytona 2009

I went to Daytona with low expectations. Being a fan of ALMS sports car series, and not the Grand AM series (the one at this event), I was skeptical about the cars and action. Boy, was I dead wrong.

The cars looked and sounded AWESOME. The event was well run, and the action was great. The three of us were there for about 20 hours of the 24 hour race. And we are all frickin pooped. But it was worth it. We met Scott Pruett, David Hobbs, Scott Dixon (at the stip club :rolf), Chip Ganassi, and a few others.

I bought Coop the Laughing Clown Malt Liquor hat (From the Movie Talledega Nights) and spent ALOT of SATURDAY trying to find Jimmy Johnson to sign it. I missed him by ONE MINUTE while searching for him by his team hauler. :mad: Well FINNALLY after he got out of his turn at the wheel and I had been standing by his pit for over an hour, he leaves the pit box, after talking to the crew for a half hour.....He comes by, I have hat and Sharpie marker in hand, I ask him to sign it, he scribbles his initials on it, and walks fast to his golf cart.....I look down and I must of hand the cap open too long and you couldnt even see the signature. So Iscribble underneath the bill of the cap and almost knock over about 4 people to try to get him to sign it again....Hes on the back of his golf cart, signs it again, signs like 3 more peoples things and ZOOM.....hes gone.

I highly recomend for anyone to got there its an Amazing experience, Watching them come into a turn at night, brakes glowing, battling at 2am, seeing them on the high banks at night, seeing these beautiful cars afterwords looking like they have been through a war, just amzing. And the crew are the most amazing people they dont get rest like the drivers. Hats off to them.
