I have approximately 400 picture slides that I'd like to transfer into digital form; however I have NO experience with this kind of thing. These are priceless photos that could NEVER be replaced so I want this to be done right with NO issues.....
Any suggestions on where to take them or who to take them to would be much appreciated...!!! :thumbsup

Have you checked with any local camera shops? I think they could produce pictures from slides, just like you would with negatives. Then just scan the pictures?

hp makes a printer that does this and it does a dam good job. its one of those all in one printers.. my girlfriends father recently bought one of these. its ******* sweet. i took a ton of negatives and had him throw them on a cd for me.. it does slides and all.

I haven't checked around with local shops as I don't want to give the slides to just 'anybody'. Looking to deal with someone that is going to be 100% upfront honest with me and do the best job possible.....

Justin, Mike Crivelo's in Brookfield does a great job in scanning. Call them about it and they'll give you a quote for the service. It wouldn't be a bad idea to mention the amount as they might give a discount for the quantity.

Some Epson (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=53540925) scanners can do it. $119 after rebate, free shipping.

I called Mike Crivello's and it's $.99 per slide and there is NO volume discount, might be better off just buying the printer.....:goof

My HP Photosmart 3210 has the slide adapter for it, scans negatives and slide nicely... It holds 4 slides at once for scanning...
There are also dedicated slide scanners you can pick up for a couple hundred bucks. One of those would be your best bet for such a quantity, as there would be less hassles and some of them have 'rails' you ptu the slides in and it feeds them one-by-one into the scanner... Would be a hell of a lot easier to scan 40 batches of 10 each than 400 individual ones...
