I have a question for the BCM camera gurus. My D40 is putting spots in pictures no matter what lens I use. Is there a cheap and effective way to fix this or does it have to go in for service?

Here is an example of how all my pics are turning out.

Most likely, probably dust on your sensor or the lens.

Easiest solution is to go buy a Canon... :goof J/K

Check into a lenspen kit http://www.amazon.com/LensPEN-Precision-Design-Cleaning-Kit/dp/B000W72IQU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1232904064&sr=8-4

You should be able to clean that off yourself....

You have dust on the sensor. I would not use a lens pen on the sensor. You can purchase a sensor cleaner and brush from any major photo supply place. I am sure Crivellos or Arts would have something there. Otherwise if you don't feel comfortable cleaning the sensor, you can send it to Calumet Photographic.

They clean it for $60 plus your shipping cost.

Crivellos in Brookfield, $15 to clean. Takes about 10 minutes. There are some cleaners you can get as well, the simplest would be one that puffs air. DO NOT use canned air to clean your sensor.

I have a SensorScope if you are around Franklin and want to do this yourself.

Oh, and nice shot :)

Thanks for the heads up. $15 is cheap compared to me wrecking something.

Yeah, sorry. I didn't mean use the lenspen brush itself. I meant the little air thing that comes with the kit that looks like the device you suck snot out of a baby's nose with. But the $15 dollar trip to the store or taking Scott up on his offer works too. Getting a lenspen/kit still isn't a bad idea.

agreed. Take it in to crivello's. He did mine, and it was only $10 I think for my D-REB XT.
