Ive used H&R the past few years but they are anything but quick(most likely because of no direct deposit).I was wondering what some of you guys use, and how long after you file do you receive direct deposit. This is the first year im using direct deposit, so id like a realistic idea of how long the process takes and how much your charged.

Do they charge a percentage of your return, or a flat fee?

taxact.com is another option, doesn't charge much either.....Telefile was pretty quick back when I used it through college :) , but its really only if you don't have much going on, IIRC...not a renter, homeowner, no investments, etc.

I did it on turbotax.com this year. Federal was free. cost me 24.95 to file for state. It took 15 minutes, all you need is your W2 from this year and last year if its your first time filing with turbotax. They told me 8-14 days for my return.

+1000 for Turbotax, been using it for years. Usually get fed back in 5-8 days, and I do the state taxes on WI website for free, used to use telefile before.

and if you bought it early enough that includes state plus one free efile for each. Any additional efile is $7.95. I've been using Taxact for the last 5 years. I always import the previous years info so there's less for me to fill out. :thumbsup

Hmmm, I have used the online H&R service and they do have direct deposit. I just did my taxes yesterday. I've been doing it for years and I usually get my refunds in 8 to 11 days.

I use Tax Slayer... I was done in 30 minutes, and have been for the last 3 years. Its free for me, but like 9.99 anyways... e-filing is the quickest way to go if you dont want to leave your home, and there are lots of websites besides Tax Slayer, its just free for Military personnel, but cheap regardless. E-filing is quick and painless, and I've had great results for three years, especially with Direct Deposit, I seen my money always between the 26th of Jan to Feb 1st at the lastest. But thats having e-filed by the 16th of Jan, with an exceptance by IRS by the 20th every year. And its not as fast as H&R, but you save money, compared to what, 2-3 weeks? I'll gladly pay 9.99 and save 100.00 to wait 2 weeks to get all my money owed. Its just a matter of convenience.

I've used Taxcut for years - easy to use, file, get your return in a week or less electronically usually.

I buy the turbotax software, its like $20 bucks. Did my federal, it e-files it for you, tells you when the IRS has accepted your return, and lets you know when your rebate is on its way to your bank account.

Then I filed the state return online for free. I did all this thursday night so we'll see when refunds hit my account

Big thumbs up for TaxAct.com...

I have done my taxes for the past 4 years with them and it is cheap and easy. If you signed up early enough (usually before 1/15) they only charge $13 for state, otherwise it is $17. Federal is free either way. State became available on ther 17th this year and I was e-filed that evening for both state and federal.

This year federal didn't start accepting e-files until the 19th and wouldn't process them until the 20th. All-in-all I can say I am probably part of the first batch to be handled both state and federal. Helped that I had all the info entered into the TacAct.com system by the 3rd of this month and was just waiting for them to make the state available. I just kept checking every morning and evening and on the evening of the 16th it had the state module ready.

I did mine earlier today with TaxAct for the 3rd year in a row. $16.95 to efile state and federal. It gives me emails and texts to update me on the status of my returns. Pretty slick, I am satisfied.
