A family member is selling this TV for $800; it is a year old and in perfect condition. I am :durr when it comes to TVs and would like to know if this one is a deal or if I should keep looking.....

I would say no but thats just my honest opinion. You can get a lot better tv for the price. Thats old technology and you can get a brand new flat panel for about the same price.

Yeah.....500-600.......not more. For 800 you could get a real nice one new.

I say $400 - $500 electronics loose there value fast. Look at that link it's in the archived section of JVC's website.

Just a quick search on google, and I found Amazon lists the TV for $2,582.99 which is a pretty damn expensive TV. $800 is not a bad price for it being one year old. Usually you'd expect to pay half. The reviews on Amazon are also very positive. It might be a rear projector TV but it sounds like it's a fantastic TV.

Keep in mind though you can get some very nice TV's brand new for less then $1000. Unless you are an audiophile and have to have the latest and greatest it might not be a bad buy.

I'd still try and talk him down though.
