All of a sudden my internet on my desktop PC (Windows XP)died. It is wired ethernet to the router. I did a few different things to try and diagnose, nothing worked.

I have a wireless laptop, that works fine.
I wired the PC directly to the cable modem with ethernet, still dead.
I changed ethernet cables, still dead.
I disabled the ethernet card and tried the onboard ethernet, with 2 different cables, all dead.

I was trying to install a new key for Kaspersky Antivirus when it died. I have since tried uninstalling the AV program, still dead.

I tried a system restore going back a couple of days ago, still dead.

Anyone have any other ideas how to fix this? Thanks-Dan
When I go in Device Manager it says everything is working fine.

when its plugged into the router do you get lights indicating that the port is active? Could be that the port is dead on your computer.

The lights on the router? Yup, tried all 4 ports, all 4 lights come on accordingly.

There is also a light on the internet card, I **thought** the light is supposed to be green and it is now yellow, but it may have always been yellow. Also disabled the card and tried the integrated ethernet, same thing.

In Device Manager it says everything is just fine.

OK, I unplugged the router and let it sit a minute, retried it again, works now. I guess the router just dropped the wired connection. Thanks for helping Myles.
