We went to DC over the weekend to visit my brother-in law. Got to get out a few times and take some pictures. We went to the monuments (both during the day and at night), Arlington Cemetery, several of the Smithsonian museums, as well as the National Shrine.

Here are a few of the pictures that I liked. Feedback, post processing improvement suggestions, and general comments would be greatly welcomed.

Hope you enjoy....

The pictures look good, I like most all them about the same. I wish I had a camera that would take pics like that.

Thanks!

The Lincoln picture might be one of the most favorite pitures I've ever taken and it was totally random.

GREAT SHOTS! I did not make it to some of your locals during our trip there last summer but now you got me wanting to get back over there.

My wife knows Robert C. Knudsen well (a big Arlington photographer http://www.amazon.com/Living-Treasure-Seasonal-Photographs-Arlington/dp/159797272X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231640655&sr=1-1). She was told the next time we are in D.C. that he will get me into all the parts of Arlington that the general public does not have access to, what those are I do not know but I can assure you that there will be pictures

Again, AWESOME shooting.

My whole family went there when I was 16 or 17. It was by FAR my favorite family vacation. It's an awesome place to go.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is breath taking. You don't realize how big it is and how many names are on there until you actually see it. We saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier too. That was amazing to see as well.
The Smithsonian....best museum in the world. I was really never a history buff....but I couldn't get enough there.

Thanks again, everyone. Photogaphy has been a serious learning curve for me over the past year and people on BCM and other local forums have been way cool in dealing with my questions on my quest for improvement (Scott, Isaac, and Nick most notably)

My brother-in-law was instrumental in telling me where to go while I was out there. Even if that meant just telling me which Metro stops to get off at so I would have to the least amount of walking, LOL.

I regret not getting over to the Pentagon. It was only one more Metro stop after Arlington Cemetery but I was on the verge of being late getting back for a planned dinner so I had to head back. Guess that just gives me a reason to go back. Next time hopefully Fords Theatre will be open and I'll have time to get to the rest of the monuments, oh and Mt. Vernon as well. You really do need a whole week.

Early April when the Cherry Blossoms are in full bloom is another timeframe I want to shoot for. We were there 2 years ago in the peak and my little Sony P&S did the job at the time but I really want to go back with a DSLR knowing now what I didn't know then.

These are a few I got at that time of the year and with a 6MP P&S mind you. It's simply amazing out there during that brief period and it was pure luck:

Yeah, you seriously need a week there I think to take most of it in. I made it all the way to the auditorium near the tomb and got a few shots but I couldn't get over by the tomb and the guard. I was so oh close but I had to leave when I did or I would have been late for dinner plans and likely in the ground myself via my wife... :goof

Well if you ever want to go out there, we have family there so my wife and I don't need much of a reason. Flying out Saturday AM and coming back Tuesday PM was nice because it only cost 2 vacation days. Next time, we'd even consider flying a red eye Friday night to get that part out of the way!
