First off, I'm not looking to get rich by any means, but I work very odd hours and really have no set schedule from week to week, therefore a PT job is pretty much out of the question. What I'm wondering is, are there any legit ways to make some extra money from home in my spare time that doesnt require any sort of set schedule? Manwhoring didnt work either, it only put me further in debt. So lets hear some legit ideas--Thanks-Dan

I sent in my application to The Real World, so I'm hoping to hear back from that. I'm putting a lot of my eggs into that basket, the MTV basket. And if that doesnt work out im thinking about getting a gun, and dealing crack. Being a crack dealer. Not, like, a mean crack dealer, but like... like a nice one. Kinda friendly, like, "Hey, what's up guys? You want some crack?". I'm just waiting on those two things to just kinda flesh themselves out.

On a serious note,

Yes, you can make money at home doing some jobs that have no set schedule, but a deadline. You will need a few items:

1.) Computer (check)
2.) Willingness to work (check)
3.) Some form of skill.
4.) Someone requiring your skill.
5.) A legitamate way to get paid (i.e. LLC, Sole Proprietorship).
6.) A PO box or mailing address you wish to share.

What I have found is that there is a huge gap in the web programming market. There are large companies with IT and Creative Development departments, and there are small businesses with a minimal marketing budget. The issue is that anyone with a degree or a career in web programming wants one big job that makes their income. There is a lot of money to be made from home if you are willing to do some HTML or Flash based web development for small business.

I currently have a back log of interested clients. I began by building my own sites for fun and then updating and keeping the website for my day job (www.xactfluid.com (http://www.xactfluid.com)). I used to help others with their sites (for free), but my day job seems to keep me from being able to commit to any deadlines. That drove people to offer up money for my services. The issue isn't really the money for me, but the lack of time. "Customers" will pay between $500 and $2000 for a basic HTML site. If you do pay sites or any "shopping cart" type sites you can make up to $8400.

Now, you can pick and chose your comfort level. If you have tremendous skills and can dedicate a bunch of time to a project, then you can make good money. If you just want "filler", you can take a simple HTML site and update links, revise photos, write some new code, add a few new pages, etc. This takes about 2 weeks of "evenings" and you can make up to $800.

So, do you have Photoshop, DreamWeaver, and some skills? You can use your SS# as your EIN until you make over $600 in one year. At that point I suggest you fill out a Sole Proprietorship paper ($135 filing fee with the Gov) and legitamize your company with a name, PO box, etc. If you really feel ambitious you could build a website selling your services and make it your day job.

Some survey sites will pay you to take surveys, but you almost have to make that your full time job to make that pay. Plus you have to qualify for the surveys such as demographics, income, use of product, work area (what you do). I did it for awhile but like I said, it requires a lot of time.

This is going to sound lame as hell, but you could make some sort of cutey-cutey little craft and sell it via internet. The sort of thing old ladies see and "can't live without." You could (in theory) make lots of money that way.

Stock market / craigslist flipper. Doesn't have to be limited to cars. You almost have to be on c list non stop to find great deals. Use craigshelper, set up live bookmarks. I've made some serious money via craigslist.

He is right. Learn some basic HTML and you could keep yourself pretty busy. It's not that hard, I taught myself back in high school, and built everything up from there. Now I have an LLC but still don't have the time to get everything done with family and the day job.

1320PNY, Props on the site (www.xactfluid.com), pretty nice looking.

1320 is right....

and any idiot can learn this shit. Especially nowadays its so wide open and so easy to do. And what you don't know, someone else knows and has posted it on a message board. Webdev is the next decades IT.

Most small companies need someone with more skill than they can devote to it, and don't want to spend 10s of thousands or more on something grandiose.

Cryptic and I started several years ago, and although he's gone on to other things, i'm banging away at it still - and have been creating quite a niche.

I can tell you from some of the site re-dos i've done, you don't have to know much. Some of the shit i see slapped together is just piss poor, but still got someone for 10k. If you want to clean up though, grab some real database administration and scripting skills, blend it with some html/css, farm out design to some cute chick with a design degree and you can write your own ticket.

Start with templates... cheap, easy, 3/4 done. And most ppl don't care, especially at the level we're discussing.

Thanks for the props guys. I even have clients and templates lined up, just no time to sit and photoshop images and code. If you buy Dreamweaver, spend about 30 hours in tutorials, you'll be banging out sites. You can even get a company to buy you Dreamweaver up front as half payment.
