Anyone currently use it? Thoughts? Did you opt to have it installed or did you go for the "install it yourself" option?

Thanks

I hooked up the DSL for my friend chris. it was pretty easy to do. basically just installed there adapters on phone jacks, pluged everything in and enter information that they provided you. It wasn't to difficult.

x2. problems are from operator error. if ANYONE here can come up with one good, true reason DSL is superior other then price, i'll be damned. and it's most certainly NOT faster.

Thats not true, cause granted the line speed is faster on paper. If your area is all on your node since its in essence a shared connection, its going to slow you down.

I had TW out several times due to problems with RR. Once I was down 2 weeks with bad service. Even Ricky Bobby came out once. Everytime it would work great for about a month and then I'd go right back to slow connection speed, have to reset the modem constantly, wouldn't connect, etc. I've had DSL now for over a year and have not had a single issue, online videos play great, I dl crap much faster. That was with business class RR as well.

So I'm sold on DSL.

I can guarantee you it was NOT operator error.....

This is identical to what I was dealing with, and also how I feel about DSL after having it for the same amount of time.....

What's with my roadrunner going out twice this week, someone running into the poles or something?

My AT&T DSL service has been rock solid and fast, consistently fast, since day one. RR was a complete pain in the ass.

I have RR now and it is slower at my new apartment then my old apartment. Videos will start playing like on youtube and will sometimes pause on me. Sometimes takes a while for pages to load.

Apartments are generally the worse, cause everyone in that building is on your block.

Probably doesnt help that the cable inside the wall is about 20 years old and is in pretty poor shape.

That would also be detrimental to your cause.

I have had both also and I like the DSL of price and consistency vs the lag of RR when everyone on my block was online at the same time. I have ATT elite now and for $ 30 a month Im happy.

We have AT&T DSL here. Speed has never really been an issue. We have never really had an issue with downtime either.

Roadrunner offers maximum download speed reaching up to 8 Mbps.

Most DSL providers, although fast, can only reach up to 1.5 Mbps.

True that RR speed can fall, depending on how populated your area is, and how many of those people have RR.

Then again, distance is a factor in DSL.
The further you are from your DSL service provider's facilities, the less speed you will get.

Cable does not have this problem.

It really boils down to where you live, but the vast majority of the time, RR is going to be way faster.

uhhhh what? While DSL can be a paltry 1.5Mbps, most DSL providers are 3Mbps, w/ a maximum of 8Mbps. Most Cable providers start out @ 5meg, with a maximum of 30Mbps.
