Hey...what's the best way to put a tail (fox, raccoon, etc) on the antenna of your car so it doesn't fall off at high speeds? Would jeweler's wire work?

bailing wire would work just would have to think of a good way to put it through the fur then around the antenna

Maybe if I use an upholstery needle to make a hole through the hide under the fur and put the baling wire through? How will I get it to not slide down the antenna, though? Maybe a thin peice of duct-tape around the wire after it's wrapped around the metal just to secure it? (Ain't this just sounding classier and classier??? :rolf)

haha yea...i have never tried anything like this so my guess is as good as yours youd have to find somthing that could ring the antenna super tight so it wont slide but not heavy enough that it will pull the antenna towards the back when the wind hits it

I'd safety wire it.

thin metal wire threaded thru the tail, wire wrapped tightly around antenna and then soldered to antenna.

It's for my little red RS.....She's not "the fast one" right now, but I don't want her 'coon tail falling off on the expressway.....I have lots of plans to fix her up this spring, but as for making her fast, that'll be in years to come. If I want speed, I have the evil Z28 for that!! As soon as the RS is all fixed up, I'll post pics, and of course I drive her and the other two around all spring/summer, so they'll be easily enough seen. The RS will be so pretty when I'm done with her.....

Make sure you use the heavier stuff and not the real light ones.

Yeah, I bought the really thick ones from the hardware store...They were much bigger than the usual "light-duty" ones. Don't want my fabulous tail to go flying off the car! :)

Yeah, I have my zip-ties all ready to go.....I don't really want to put it on yet, because of the weather.....then again, I suppose I could put a baggie around it if it's snowing or raining....Maybe I'll wait til spring.

I'd vote for waiting.. putting a baggie on it may look like you have a condom tied to your antenna... lol

Ew......you're right, lol!!! I was going to wait til the car is "retired" from daily-duty......That way, I won't have to worry quite so much about it (the tail) getting damaged by weather.

Weather really shouldn't be a huge problem. Just make sure that the inside of the tail (where the tailbone was) is not exposed. They usually split the tails to remove it from the bone. Any moisture to the outside of it shouldn't hurt. Raccoons live outside 24/7 through the rain and snow.

Yeah, I suppose you are right, raccoons don't wear rain-jackets, lol!! Do you think I ought to use some sort of preservative? Like they sell at Wilson's Leather?
