Where have you guys had good luck when it comes to buying cars?

My wife and I in the next few weeks are looking to get her a used Explorer.

We are goingt o put about $1,500-$2,000 down and maybe need financing for the rest. We are waiting on some details before we decide if we need financing or not from the dealer.

Looking to spend no more than 15K and that will include tax,title,etc...

06 and up with low miles, must be 4x4.

I checked all the local sites and there are plenty to be had. I just thought I may give one of you our business vs someone we don't know.

Any recomendations?

Color and all that other jazz dosen't matter to her she said.

I'd like to keep it below 25K-30K miles wise and would like heated seats and such but not a must have.

If you like PM me the info if you don't want to post it public.

Thanks for your help in advance.

My Mom bought her Altima at Andrew Auto. Coop also works there, and he has always looked after BCM members coming in to buy a Vehicle from them.

When the car came back for service we were always treated right.

You could talk to my bro (red97gtp). He works at Boucher Lincoln Mercury on HWY 100 and Oklahoma and they always have a ton of Explorers/Mountaineers. He's not in sales anymore but he could prolly send you too one of his friends in sales.

check some of the expolder and mountainqueer sites first before you buy and see the problems some are having...big issue seems to be transfer case and trans..from what i have read on a site i go to...and the rear hatch cracks by the emblem....i only speak from what i have read...i post alot on this site and they have steered me in the right direction all the time...i like my mountaqueer...AWD sucks for gas milage...but i love the room it has and the options....and goes through the snow really nice....

Wayne, could you just give me a run down of what years and such are having the issues you have spoke of?

Any info is much appreciated.

84Hurst, your brother is the one that I bought my GTP from about 2 years ago. And to be rather frank he is an assclown and a rip off artist who can die in a fire for all I give a fuck.

Just kidding dude, my GTP has been great thus far *knocks on wood.

Your brother seemed to be a pretty standup guy and gave me the deal I was looking for at that point in time. :)

I liked Holz when I bought my first new car from them. Tony Crawford, an older guy, was very helpful.

We drove from Wausau to Milwaukee to buy a Jeep at Andrew Toyota. Coop hooked us up, we were treated like celebrities. I couldnt believe how many people kept checking to make sure we were happy, comfortable, etc. It was impressive.

I could care less where I buy my car from. I would just pickout the best price and exact one I want on autotrader. Get a loan from landmark cu and buy private party. In the long run, who really cares if you were treated nicely for a day or two to buy your car? A truck that new well have a warranty if anything comes up anyway.

one thing, is a dealership can get you a better rate THROUGH landmark then you can get as just a walk in to landmark.

if you give me year and what car you are buying and how much you are financing, i can get you the rate you SHOULD be at since Landmark as the lowest rates around right now through car dealerships.

Yeah, Coops even been a great help for my '76 Corolla resto project!!!

Also, look into seeing if Ford has certified financing rates right now. After the new year, I don't know if Ford Motor Credit will even be around much longer :)

Exploders workin for me. Had a 94 for five years and traded up to a 06 this August. Such a deal when gas was at $4.

Buy it private from someone who needs the money. I am sure there is someone who maybe lost a job that would benefit. Also work a deal so the price on paper is a lot lower so you pay less tax to the Socialist Govt.

if anything, I would recommend buying before the end of the year. From what I understand, the sales tax is going up as the first of the year......

HA, $3700 and a $6000 higher price than normal. So even with your $1000 and the downpayment match, you are still higher than what the normal price would have been through the internet :) haha

would you sacrifice mileage for equipment? I have a 2007 black on black v8 premier Mountaineer with Nav, 3rd row, moonroof, every option under the sun that would be about $15,000 all in. Maybe 15,100 at the most tax, title, lic, everything.

Kicker, it's got 70K miles on it, but we sold it new, the guy is a district rep for Roundys and drove store to store in WI and IL. It's all literally hwy miles.
