I have the xbox360 set up down in my office on the 53" Sony. The boys got a few new games and one in particular ( NFS Undercover ) doesn't look the greatest. I was thinking about getting a wireless adapter for the 360 and hooking everything up to my plasma tv upstairs. Question is, do they harm the tv ( screenburn etc. ) or is that not a problem anymore?

Thanks for any input.

I wouldnt worry about it at all. Plasmas from 1992 had problems, newer technology has come a LONG way. Ive been playing games on my Panasonic plasma for over a year, never noticed anything at all.

Especially since its a Pinoeer, thats a bit better quality than an ACME Plasma TV.

i never had any issues with it. I played quite a bit on that thing. Never had any issues. The TV has a preset that turns it to a screensaver if left on pause. That way it prevents burn in.

It won't just randomly turn off on you. Never did for me and I would play for a couple hours at a time at night.

Thanks man, I kinda thought it wouldn't be a big deal with the newer stuff.

Shit I've used my Plasma for many moons playing Wii, Xbox, & PS3. No problems.

A plasma WILL burn-in. However, most new Plasma displays have built-in screen savers and most game systems (or the games) will dim the screen when paused. That is what causes burn-in. The same phosphors (in the case of tube TVs) or the same elements in a plasma display being continuously lit for hours on end. For those that don't know, a plasma display works similarly to a neon sign except the elements are much smaller and there are millions of them. On an LCD, voltage is applied across a liquid crystal which causes it to turn opaque. The LCD panel is then back-lit by a very bright fluorescent lamp so you can see which pixels/color are activated. With tube TVs a stream of electrons is fired at glass coated with phosphor which glows white when it's hit. In front of that a grid of red, green, and blue glass that is illuminated by the phosphor. The latest technology is OLED or Organic LED. OLED is a thin film of LED material sandwiched between two electrodes. When current is passed through the element it lights up. OLED has all the benefits of LED technology (low power, etc...)... but I've heard there are issues with the lifetime of the Blue-colored LED elements in that they are failing prematurely.

Hooked up the returned unit upstairs on the plasma and I almost came in my pants! Gonna have to get the wireless adapter and play up there more. Man, what a difference! The tv has a screensaver as Chris mentioned and like you said ND4SPD, the game goes dim when idle for awhile. Thanks for all the input guys, I appreciate it.

Got both 360's hooked up so we can play LIVE upstairs or downstairs. Less fighting this way, but it shouldn't take 2 360's for that. lol
