View Full Version : stuck in the snow.try this!

well today i tried to do a little wheeling in my "new to me" Heep XJ and got hung up pretty bad. the back tire was about 3in. off of the ground and the front was all jacked up in the snow.
so i got out my pathetic playschool shovel i keep in the back and start diggin.
then some guy that was also screwin around back there gave me a little tip that i thought id share.
he called it the poor man's locker and said it would work with any open diff car/truck
all that you have to do is pull the
E brake up a few clicks for RWD and it puts enough resistance on the free spinning wheel to push the other. WORKED GREAT! i got right out of there
he also said you could do the same for the front by feathering the brake pedal

has anyone heard about this? tried it?

Hey 4eyed I got a jeep too, if you wanna go play in the snow sometime let me know. If one of use gets stuck we can pull each other out. Im in Kenosha.

really really old four wheeling technique :thumbsup used to use it for climbing hills

If it keeps snowing like this I'm going to need to lift my WJ 6", some deep and drifty unplowed lots round here.

So the rear in your XJ is an open dif ? Still got the car tyres ? :D

Mine has General Grabber AT2's... they work quite nicely so far..

Oh Dan those are the same tires I have on my 2 trucks, dey bite good. Hope you got some new treads or your toast. :)
