Today I got the news that the left eye is pretty much gone. Even after the dosage of the serious steriod it was supposd to come back instead I got "I'm so sorry". I guess I should be lucky to have 60% of the right eye left but still doesnt feel good. I dont think it sank in yet because I havent smashed any walls yet.

I thought it was going to come back tho? Is it now going to be gone gone?

And if thats the case, can you wear a pirates eyepatch and a hat whenever i visit?

Wow man.. you never know tho... Dr's never know. There's always a possibility.

Anyway.. glad you're able to do as much as you are considering how recently you had a somewhat major surgery.

Hope everything goes as well as possible. As I said before, I live close.. like less than 5 mins away.. if you need help with something, hell, even to watch the kids for a bit (I'll bring Amy - She's a daycare teacher) let me know.

It called pale tissue in the eye which means its dead. It was supposed to have come back already.

Seriously that is ******* gay. I am now going to devote my life to making ocular implants that will allow you to have a super eye.

So will you even be able to ever drive again? Or anything of that nature? That would seriously suck if you can't man. Will you be legally blind? 60% in one eye is much better than none my friend.

Its still amazing to me that you made it through all that and are still up and going. :headbang

the 360 will probably go up for sale soon as I wont be able to play it and we are not sure yet about driving. The true test will be when in 6 months I come off the seizure meds. Right now I get really fugged up so who knows. Deb is hopefull and I am praying that I will regain depth perception to at least be able to drive. I am not rying to sound greedy but I dont know how I would react if both eyes were taken.

This is a BIG lesson to all of us to never take ANYTHING for granted. All in all, you seem to be handling everything pretty well considering the circumstances. You are a strong man.

I don't know what to say in a situation like this Yoo. How very awful.:(

I don't think I could handle what you're going through very well. How lucky you are to have the support of your friends and family. Good luck to you on maintaining the sight in your other eye.

Deb is hopefull and I am praying that I will regain depth perception to at least be able to drive. I am not rying to sound greedy but I dont know how I would react if both eyes were taken.Yoo,

Not many know this, but I too, am 100% blind in my right eye, no light perception whatsoever, total blackness. In my case, it was due to an accident at work, a tiny metal chip avoided my safety glasses, and penetrated my eye.
I spent 5+ hrs in emergency surgery, but the ophthalmologist determined that whatever passed thru had severed the optical nerve behind my eyeball, and wasn't repairable.

I vividly recall the "I'm sorry, we successfully repaired the eye damage but there's nothing more we can do" speech. I know very well when they say "you will never see out of it again", that news hits like a ton of bricks. That was my strong eye too. That was 2002.

I cannot speak for your case, but praying your other eye remains strong. Your depth perception will never be the same. In my case, it's fine for driving, but don't attempt to toss me a football, or even hand my card back at a store checkout, I will miss it most every time. That's where my perception is most screwed up, at arm length distance.

I was initially given a prescription for glasses to correct my remaining weak eye. It helped for reading and such, but I could not adapt to driving with the glasses on. They overcompensated, and I "saw" everything a lot closer than it really was. I soon quit wearing the glasses, and despite what the doctors told me "wasn't possible", my left eye did compensate and become much stronger over a couple year's time.
When the accident happened, there was no possible way I could see well enough to drive, everything was a blur, that's how weak my left eye was, and had been all my life.
When I had to renew my DL in 2004, I went to the eye doc for the test (not the DMV)...I told him my eye had become stronger, and that I quit wearing my glasses, and felt I could pass the test without them. He initially said "not possible - eyes don't get stronger", but then he gave me the DMV-required test, and I passed it. He couldn't believe it either. I do have a RH mirror requirement on my DL because of lack of peripheral vision, but thankfully, no glasses required.

Sorry for the long read, but just wanted to share and sympathize with your situation, and maybe give some hope that your other eye will hang in there such that you can resume a normal life soon. I know the hopelessness you are feeling now...better days will come my friend. Stay strong and have a Merry Christmas.

I call B/S on wacking off causing blindness. I jerked off 28 times last week and probably twice as many as the week before. I could probably find some proof laying around here somewhere.

On a serious note though.. Sorry to hear that Yoo.

Sorry to here Yo. Don't give up hope though, the human body is an amazing thing and will do whatever it can to rebuild. Pray that your right eye compensates for the loss of the other and grows stronger. That's what happened to my Father-In_law; who is also fighting brain tumors for years now.

Good luck, and we'll say some prayers for you.

Yoo, sad to hear but not insurmountable. MY grandpa lost vision in one eye when a nail head popped off and penetrated it. Took some adjusting but he went on to continue to drive and live his life. much like yellow2k1vette he has some troubl with depth perception around the house but he climbs the stairs and gets around and does everything nearly as well as he had before.

My uncle was legally blind in both eyes and he had a wonderful career and family life. If nothing else we can sneak you in to go karting :thumbsup

and i wouldn't take coops eye...he'd probably give you his third testicle instead....:rolf

Keep hope yoo...as they say, the human body IS amazing...strong parts become stronger to help the weak parts, and the mind has an amazing ability to cope. Plus, we are now learning that the brain and neural tissue heals better than we ever thought before...oftentimes, the healing times for neural tissue can be a minimum 3 months to a few years...so things may improve for you somewhat.

Think of this....oftentimes, if a part of the brain is injured, other parts pick up the slack...IE, parts that might have NOTHING to do with vision, may in fact pick up a little vision responsibility...so this might be a possibility.

We're being hopeful more than anything...but it's not a bad thing to be hopeful.

thanks for the support and words everyone! I actually feel blessed that my brain has NO side effects and that I can at least see out of 1 eye. This damage is actually from the brain crushing the nerves and vessels not at all from the brain itself. Overall, I am blessed with so many friends and really this thing doesnt feel so bad for me right now.

I talked to coop regarding the ocular implants, we are currently investigating this even more. I will test on myself and report when results start to happen.

I am greatful my prayers were answered and you are still with us. Your family will love you one eyed or not. It comes form the heart not what people see on the outside.

Merry Christmas Yoo !!! You have been given the greatest gift of all.
