sprung a nasty oil leak from the turbo, all of a sudden it went to idle and i had no thorttle then looked at the gauge and it had no oil pressure so i shut it off looked underneath and it was covered checked it nothin on the dipstick. had my dad come and he took me to wal mart got some cheap ass oil and put it in enough to get it running but its pouring out like a mother so i gots to tear into it now dammit

as I recall, the powerstroke fuel injectors operate off of oil pressure, so low oil = run like siht, if at all

Fuel injectors run off oil pressure? If this is true I dont see how the fuck that works.... They should work off a injection pump.

On with the snow!!!! :banana

I recall my neighbor saying something like that. I dont recall exactly what he said though. He has a 1999 Powerstroke.

powerstrokes dont have an injection pump

and i dont think they run the injectors off oil pressure i dont even see that working haha think the oil pump made the motor run like shit but i dont even know it took like 20 seconds to smooth out with oil in it so

but yea ON WITH THE SNOW!!

im tellin ya, i really think the injectors run off of oil pressure somehow. I know my neighbors truck starts runnin like shit, he is always low on oil. he changes it, puts in the proper amount, and it runs like its new again

yea still new with these PSD's spent too much time learning shit on tractors and construction equipment

i like how we went from talking about snow to diesels god we are gearheads

Yea the powerstrokes and many other CAT diesels utilizing high pressure oil to fire the injectors. Still like the old Jimmy diesels that used a rocker arm to fire the injector. Sure a PSD will not run without oil but I'm sure you could still damage bearings in short order.

Bigtime oil leak in the back valley of a powerchoke 7.3 is usually the turbo pedestal o-rings leaking. Thats a fun one in the OBS trucks.

I was just outside, and the street light was shining on the snow, and it was all sparkly. I still hate it with a passion, but at least it was kinda fluffy and pretty.
