Near-million dollar payout comes as county reviews benefits
When he left the office in October as a 63-year-old deputy DA, Reddin retired with the most lavish retirement benefit ever awarded a county employee. Reddin collected a lump-sum "backdrop" payment of $976,499. He also gets monthly retirement checks of $6,070, or nearly $73,000 a year.
His wife, Mary, also retired from the county in October. A manager of the county's court information system, Mary Reddin got a $68,385 backdrop plus $2,263 a month, or about $27,000 a year.
Grand total for the Wauwatosa couple: $1.04 million upfront, plus $99,990 a year for life. The payments come up for review today by the county Pension Board.
