I just got an e-mail from my Uncle about the christmas lights that people set to music.

The interesting thing is that this one is local!!!

It is on 104th St in Greenfield.

He is a link to the website with videos and directions.

I'm gonna go check it out when I get a chance.

Anyone else think the song "Carol of the Bells" has a creepy, ominous quality to it? The lights were cool, though.

Kill Joy.

Yeah Voodoo lady, but prolly cuz we hear that in almost every holiday commercial. Kinda like Tubular bells from the Excorsist.

When I was really little, like 4-5, my biggest thrill in winter was seeing the Christmas lights, and going over to see all the neighbor's Christmas trees. It was nice.

Actually, I LOVE "creepy and ominous!!" That's why I'm particularly fond of "Carol of the Bells," and anything macabre is right up my alley! :devil

Thats sweet.
I have always wanted to do that. I actually have a programmable light controller that will control 36 outputs if I remember correctly. they have some real nice computer controllers that can do these type of setups.
Lots of planning!

There is a house in Franklin off of 76th St. south of Rawson that did lights like that last year. Don't know if they are doing it again this year.
I'll have to find out and then check out this guys lights too.

So I went to see the show, and all I can say is Incredible!!

That was worth the price of admission.

I would recommend everyone to go see it. The videos on the interweb do not do it justice.

Just Wow

quoted from the site:

"This is our second year computerizing our display. We have about 28,000 lights with probably around a half mile of extension cords. We used Light-O-Rama hardware and software to run our display. Last year we had 48 channels (which is 3 controller boxes). This year we had so many new ideas for more color we had to add three more controller boxes to give us a total of 6 boxes with 96 total channels. A "channel" is basically one string or section of lights that you can control individually from the others."

looking at websites, just for the control modules and everything, they have about $3,000 into the system, then you count lights..... They have about 28,000 lights so if they have only 300 light strands, thats about 93 strands, even at 3 dollars a strand, thats almost 300 bucks, then extention cords... a good weatherproof cord can be 20 bucks. I'd say all together they may have about $4,000 - $5,000 bucks into this. I cant even begin to think about the hours it would take to set all those lights up, program the system to work with the music (you have to do that on your own, the control modules simply link the lights to your computer) and then think about the dismanteling time, storing all those lights safely so you can use them again next year..... yikes!
