winter beaters break down, and sometimes you have no other choice? I had to drive my Spyder the last couple weeks :(

either that or people are just dumb.

sorry but having seen a certain mustang gt attempt to drive through each snow storm pisses me off! the guy barely moves and at some point will either cause an accident or end up in a ditch. the latter I hope. if you can afford the money on that new car then you can afford to somehow get a cheap beater.

Or a set of snow tires for a measly $500, which is priceless for what they offer.....:chair:

I work with a guy that owns a grey GTO with a trailer hitch at buell...its his only car and it gets driven year round and tows a motorcycle trailer to track events in summer...drives from new berlin somewhere to east troy everyday with it

It's just a GTO, throw some snow tires on it and drive it year around. Same thing I would do if I owned a vette.

There is a guy up here with a gray one that drives his year around too. He use to have a bunch of pretty big dents in it but looks like he got those fixed this summer. Bet he doesn't make it all winter without getting a few new ones.:rolf

Hard to say if one specific snow tire is the best but there are MANY that are near the top for all around performance. Search for snow tire ratings (or similar) and you'll find many comparison tests with results leaning towards the same brand/models. Bottom line is that most all dedicated snow tires are going to better than most all-season tires with a few exceptions here and there.....

My uncle works in R&D at the actual factory, I think it's around Elkhorn? I know he's been there since it all started in a garage.

I have been contemplating getting a newer GTO as a daily, which means it would be driven in the winter months. I think they will be somewhat collectible in the future and all but I guess I can't justify having a newer car and monthly car payments for a car to sit 5 months a year. I know alot of people here have newer cars and might do that though. I might feel a little guilty but if maintained and washed often, it should be ok I'd think. I don't know that newer cars are as rust prone as older ones.

I just saw an 04 gto with 40,000 some miles forsale for $12,500!! Unreal they are that cheap now!!

Wow, that is cheap....I have a thing for the brazen orange, 06' only color...I've always been a fan of orange. Perhaps a screamin' deal for an 05'-06' in another shade would sway me to think otherwise. Maybe this summer if things break right. I check prices occassionally waiting for them to drop enough, seems you can score an 05'-06' in the high teens with some miles now.

I agree with Brad...throw snow tires on the bitch and go. I've seen a TON of GTO's driving around. Just saw one at BW3's a couple days ago.

Hell i'd drive any LS1 car all year long. Its not like they'll ever be collectors items and they are cheap as shit.

funny you reply today, the goat goes back to road duty this week, as soon as I quit trying to decide and JUST decide on which wheels.
