Guy named Jason Husband grabbed it

"Sometimes it pays to be lucky. Granted, though I did not get the whole lightning strike in this shot, I still think it might be my favorite lightning shot I have taken of all time. This is straight out of the camera, no cropping, no light adjustments, nothing. If I had a wide angle lens, this would have been spectacular. Maineville, Ohio 6-15-08 Best viewed large.

Note: For those who are wondering, A) This is not fake. I would not know how to make something like this if my life depended on it. B) The white spots are not stars, but rain drops. This shot is real and straight out of the camera as I said above."

If you want to make a desktop out of it there are bigger sizes available; http://flickr.com/photos/jasonpics/2582132489/sizes/o/

Yes. I like it, but you can tell it's not real. Mostly by the houses.

You would be wrong, the exif (D80, 20 some seconds, ISO100, F/11, yada yada) and pixels checkout. If you look the guys address up and live map it the neighborhood checks out.

Another great close-up shot

yeah I checked the exif on the image from the link... the re-sized looks rendered. 22 sec exposure, I see how he pulled that off.

Once, when I was about 11, I saw a flash of lightning like that. It was a clear day, and there was no rain in the forecast. My friend and I were sitting on the porch, when there was the most ear-splitting crack of thunder I've ever heard, and this insane flash of lightning, which looked almost pinkish in color. It was one of the freakiest/scariest things I ever saw.
