Of course, im copying it to have it as a backup.

But anyway, Ive always used DVD Shrink to rip and compress dvd's, and then I use Nero to burn the compressed ISO image. Never had a problem. I was trying to copy Talladega Nights, and dvd shrink would only compress it down to about 5.5gigs, as opposed to the required 4.4. Myles told me I needed dual layer discs and a burner, so I went and bought it. I burned my 5.5gig iso image to it, it burned sucessfully, but the resulting disc will only play on my laptop, not in my dvd player. Should I rip it again without compressing it? I dont know what else to try. I never used these dual layers before.

If the uncompressed image is the same or smaller than the dual layer do it that way.

dan, I too use slysoft (for decryption purposes).

Myles, Im going to try saving it as an ISO with no compression.

I use the anydvd program to remove protections and just burn it with Intervideo DVDcopy. Really simple and have been doing that for years.

I also use anydvd, but see... I used dvdshrink because because I burn onto standard layer discs, and when you get store bought movies, they are on dual layers. So I use the dvd shrink to shrink it to a size I can burn onto a regular disc. Always worked perfectly. But for some reason, Talladega Nights would not shrink enough. I'm trying it again, ripping it to the HD with no compression, and I'll burn the uncompressed ISO and see if that works. I'd hate to waste another $2.50 DVD dual layer

Gotchya, never burnt a store bought movie. ;) Good luck with getting it done without going through too many expensive dvd's.

I use DVDFab. I personally think it is way better than AnyDVD. Drawback is it copies the whole movie to the Hard Drive, so it takes a little longer. But it will Analyze, Burn much faster with DVD Shrink since the files are on your Hard Drive. Check out DVDIdle.com. I haven't had 1 bad DVD since switching and you don't have to buy the software like AnyDVD.

DVD Shrink also copies the entire movie to my harddrive, and it burns the movie from my HD.
