No it won't have the LT1. Cops didn't get thm untill '96. Yes it will have the same intake, however it is covered by a big black plastic cover.
Hope that helps Scoty

i thought it was possible to have the LT1 in a '94, just like an impala ss. all you gotta do is look on the option code on the sticker on the trunk lid and you'll know. check out www.impalaforums.com i think it was for more info

as for price, that is what they were normally going through city auction for the last time i went to one. but i don't remember if that was an LT1 car or LB9 i think it might be?

make sure if that's what you are looking for, to get an LT1 car. actually i'm 99% sure you can get an LT1 in a '94-'96 caprice under the 9C1 package. jsut make sure it says 9C1 and LT1 back on the option sticker.

what would the code in the trunk be for the LT1

OK its pretty easy to tell if its an LT-1 or not!!!

Does it have a large black plastic thing on top of the engine that looks like a baseball home plate and says V8 MULTI-PORT INJECTION on it? And yes the intake its self looks just like the f-body intake.

If it doesnt look like this??? its a TBI 350= boat anchor slug:rolleyes:

The RPO code would be LT1.....

Dont be scared of the mileage too much though. My friend has a 95' 9C1 and it runs perfect with 125k miles.

Now, I'm not sure where I heard this (me thinks it was car craft) but they said that there were two motors on the cop caprice's that look exactly the same at first glance (namely the home plate lid) but were quite different...I'm not sure, but I think one was based on the old 262 V8 or something really crazy like that (something in the low 4.X displacement...not too many municipalities (and I doubt few around here) used them. When I first saw it mentioned I thought "oh, it's just a caprice with the 4.3 v6" but appearently not...it's a smaller v8.

Maybe I was high on kerosene fumes again. Anyone know or heard anything like that? Or maybe know anyone that might know something like that?

chris, you are correct. i was looking very hard for a 9C1 caprice back a few years ago, hence the city auctions. they look kinda the same, but i think the LT1's intake is enough to set it apart, it's been a while though. that's why i said look for the LT1 on the option code. and like i said in the other post, i think it's LB9 for the other option code. you should look on that impala site i listed above. find a wealth of knowledge there.

yeah, here's some quotes from around:

The eighth digit will be a W for the 4.3 or a P for the 5.7. Then you will be sure. Being a police officer, I know what we put those cars through. Good luck with it.
and

LT1 = 5.7L 350CID V8
L99 = 4.3L 265 CID V8.

there's more out there...

The 4.3 is refered as a *baby LT1* by some...the engine VIN code(8th digit) is a W for the L99 4.3. Local yard got a fresh t-boned Caprice recently(W code) and I looked up the engine code since I couldnt get the hood opened up....

LB9 is the TPI 305 :D.

I am intrigued by the "Baby LT-1"

Is this basically the old 265 V8? the 3.755" bore x 3.00" stroke?

Unfortunately it would probably be tough to do anything *very* serious performance wise...probably don't have a good enough selection of aftermarket pistons to do anything to special...

...BUT, I wonder what it's performance is vs the LT-1's? How many more revs do you think you could get out of the 3.0" stroke? Anyone crazy enough to screw around with one of those things and actually admit it?

If anything...I wonder what kind of mileage could you get out of it?

I have a '94 9C1 Caprice with the LT-1 engine. For a Caprice with the LT1 you're looking at at least $3,500 for a car in ok condition, probably closer to $5,000. I paid $4,750 for mine about a year ago.

There should be an option code sticker on the inside of the trunk lid... "LT1" is the option code for obviously the LT-1 engine. Another valued code is "G80" which is a positraction rear end.

If you're still looking for a LT1 Caprice, theres a few places on the internet that deal with old cop cars almost exclusively.
