Looking to get remote start installed on my truck and the girls jeep. Generally speaking how much should i expect to pay for a remote start installed? we both need something with an amazing range. my old car had one installed, and it didnt work past like 200ft.

What year make modl of the truck and jeep in question? Most places pricing on them includes "basic" installation. Not including immobilizer bypass, factory alarm integration etc. At my work they start at 189 and go up from there. Don't go cheap get something made by DEI, or even Audiovox has some nice stuff i've seen.

Starting @ $225 if you need a bypass module, you need a bypass module if you have an anti theft key. If you dont need a bypass module take off $50-75.

Make sure someone with half a brain who has done many installs yours as it as its surgery on some very important wires and systems are tapped into.

What do you have? A few hours and a decent kit from AstroStart... and you're done.

i thought they released a manual tranny remote start at sema. you can put any kind of system on a manual just need to bypass the clutch. not the best idea but it works.

I had it on my contour SVT I had long time ago. Auto Sound and Effects was the only place that would warranty it but they are out of business. The only way it would work is when I stop the car I had to put it in neutral with the parking brake up. Then I hit two buttons together and it would arm the remote start. Then I would get out of the car(still running) and hit the lock button. It would shut my car off and lock my doors and arm the remote start. If I didn't do it in that order it wouldn't start my car.

There have been manual trans specific remote starts for a long time already. DEI just came out with some new vipers that i install. 5101, 5301, 5701, 5901, etc. They're really nice units. Make sure wherever you end up getting yours installed that it's not some rinky dink shop that will be out of business next year in case you have problems with the units.

Auto Sound and Effects

Little useless trivia:

The dude that used to run that one on 27th (also named Yoosef) is now peddling the Sam's Club credit card at afformentioned retailer.

It's funny watching the starter drive the car down the street because even though they said "I will for sure remember every time to take it out of gear" they left it in and then it crashes into the car in front of it. Cousin did that in Florida.

for a basic remote start, i wouldn't spend much more then 300 total installed. if you want a full setup with a really fancy alarm and stuff, then spend more. i priced them out at all kinds of places for my buick before winter, 300 is tops.

BEST BUY WILL INSTALL ON A MANUAL. There is a specific relay that will disable it if the car is in gear. I believe he said the relay was an extra $75-100. Their basic remote start with keyless was aroudn $200.

Here is one, basic remote start with locks. No alarm though. $189 installed. Add another $75-100 for a manual, and it's not a bad deal really.

ROFL!:rolf

anyway, Johnny is right, to be honest, all these units are made by the same few companies overseas anyway, if the kit is complete crap, its gonna be obvious. but for a basic remote start, all it is is a box sending a signal to the starting system. done.

Get a DEI system and you won't need to worry about anything (unless you screw up your remote)

Whoever fed you that crap about the relay for remote start on a manual was either an uninformed sales guy who was just bsing his way through or he was just trying to get more money out of you.
You can't do manual with the 189, and also it only unlocks when remote started and its only a one button remote.

The ones that you can do manual on are the 5101, 5301, and 5701 tha best buy carries. And those are built into the unit no extra 100 dollar relays or anything stuff like that.
