So, I am going to work a trade show in Vegas in a couple of weeks. The trade show is only for about 5 hours a day, so I should have enough free time to do other things. I have never been out there and am looking for some suggestions on cool places to check out.

The whole place is a good time. Just see the sights, drink the booze, and have a good time. Vegas is always a blast!

First forget all the old ideas of Vegas being cheap to eat and drink. That's not the case anymore. Sure you still get free drinks while gambling, but if you're just at a bar or nightclub, it's very expensive to drink. Now there is still some places selling cheap beer, like Casino Royale has $1 Michelobs and strawberry margarita.

If you have the cash, take advantage of the great restaurants. Vegas has some of the best restaurants in the world. They cost though.

Where are you staying? What are you into?

Car wise Wynn's has a Ferarri dealership, however it's costs to go into the showroom. Ceasars Palace's mall has a car place as well - again it's costs to go in, but OTE had an Eleanor Clone there last winter that sold.

If the show is at the Convention Center you can take the monorail to it from most of the strip. Just buy a several day pass.

There's tons of whores in Vegas, you don't need to spend $1000 an hour at the Bunnyranch to get laid. Just get some GHP and hit a nightclub. lol

If you are into cars take Hwy 15 to Speedway exit. Check out Shelby's world headquarters then drive down the street to the drag strip-it is unbelieveable!!
Across the street is the Nascar track and "The Shelby 'Cafe". Check out the Drags on Friday night, they have a "Midnight Madness" that starts at 8pm. The cars HAVE to drive in and immediately make a pass, then they hang out and set up races. When I was there 2 weeks ago the line to get in was still back to the expressway at 11pm!!

It's only in the high 50's low 60's in Vegas this time of year, 40's at night. It's a bit cold to be on those rides. They might even be shut down now..

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm staying at the Paris. Thankfully, the company is paying for all of the food and everything else. I couldn't convince my boss to pay for my gambling though.

Paris put's you right smack dab in the middle of it all. Nice rooms there. Plus the monorail does stop there, so easy to get to the convention center.

If you get a room facing the strip you'll have a great view of the fountains in front of Bellagio, which are very cool.

Club wise there's a bunch right around you. Even if you're not into it, it's still a a cool experience as the girls in them are just ridiclous. Although if you see a big line, and you're with a bunch of guys, don't expect to get in as easily. They try to fill them up with women. Caesers Palace has Pure, and the Pussycat Dolls Lounge. Also Shadow Bar. All 3 are cool places. Pure always has celebrities floating around it seems like. Bellagio has a couple cool place, however I can only remember Caramel. New York, New York has Coyote Ugly- super hot girls working there dancing on the bar and crap. Fun place.

If you're looking to gamble like table games and you're not looking for $20 tables, you gotta stick to the smaller places. Almost impossible to find a low limit $5 or $10 table at any of the major places. O'Sheas which is inbetween the Flamingo and Imperial Palace has a younger crowd and low minimums. They also have Beer Pong tables if you want.

I was at Barrett-Jackson in Oct.

#1.....Food is EXPENSIVE!!!!! Take a lot of spending money.
Go see Paris hotel and Venetian. If I went again I would definately go there. Also with our economy it is like being in a foreign country. I felt out of place being there. A lot of french and Japanese.

Overall probably wouldn't go back.

I am a Vegas junkie. 5 to 7 times a year for the past twenty years. you could say I've been there a few times. As your first time there you will be simply be overwhelmed. One thing I can tell you is, IT SUCKS TO TRY TO WORK AND PLAY IN VEGAS. Be ready for zero sleep. Check out all the major hotels, If your into clubs there is more than enough for every night. If you want strip clubs, Spearimint Rhino is the best. Be ready to spend large. Less than five bills in your pocket don't even bother going. You can still eat cheap off the strip or downtown. If you want five star food you are in the best place in the world. A rental car is a must, and cheaper than a cab everywhere. If you do go to a strip club. Call the club and they will pick you up in a limo for free and with no cover, just tip the driver. They pay cabbies $30 a head for guys they bring. Best shows are Mystere, blue man group or any cirq show. Anything else shoot me a pm.
