Well, winter is here and it's time to start being creative indoors.

Ive been testing some portrait methods with the least amount of accessories possible. These are going to slowly trickle in. Expect about 5 or so in this post alone. Tools used were a tripod, wireless trigger, Canon 430EX Speedlight (slave) for back light, and diffused Sigma DG500 flash (master). Working against an off-white wall in my kitchen.

What do you all think so far?

I want my eyes to be more prominent. How do I focus more light into them? Scott, Gramps, anyone?

what you using for light...straight bulb....flash, flash with bounce...flash with umbrella....I like using 2 flashes with unbrellas and one flash as a hair light....but thats ME....the unbrella evens the light out for ME....thats what I would do....I noticed the harsh light on the side of your face and the glare spot on the right eye, IN PICS 2-3-AND 4.(on your left as looking at the pic)...but remember I shoot totaly different then you guys do...my equipment is all MF.....I compare my way of film shooting to your way of digital...some may say there is no difference...but there is....IMPO

What I was using was a master flash and bouncing that off the ceiling, wall, and then using ceiling bounce with a diffuser, as a slave I used a canon speedlight against the back wall. Tried to see what I could use with the minimal amount of accessories as possible.

I do want to pick up some umbrellas and a lower reflector. That wold be cool.

you bounced the light and diffused it and still got the harsh light....then you have to try the umbrella...they are not that expensive....

:rolf:sgay J/K Nick, the pics look good in my totally untrained and undistinguishing opinion, but after a night of drinking those captions were all I could think of.
