Wife fell in love with the Rebel XS at best buy. In store it's 599.99 on ebay you can get huge multi lense packages with all this other stuff. Are they actually worth it?? Here's an example.

I mean I've been looking around and most people say stay away from over seas sellers. Especially hong kong e.x. those memory cards usually hold half what they say. But I've never heard anything about stateside stuff. I dunno......

i ordered my Nikon D60 off of a site just like that, eveything came as described but the lens that came with the kit had a noticable oil type smudge smack dab in the middle of it. Got a diff lense anyways, camera has worked out great so far, taken amazing pictures.

Have been shopping for a little while between the XS and XSi and finally got a XSi. There are a few more features to the XSi that made the camera worth the extra money. I bought it new without a lense from a guy on photography on the net forum. Paid $500 for the camera with warranty and original receipt from October 28. Nick was a big help with questions I had, but the two real popular sites seem to be bhphotography.com and jr.com. Really good prices on both with free shipping. Check them out.

Good luck on your purchase.

Never ever buy anything from a storefront in New York if it isn't B & H or Adorama. Your link is to a bait and switch operation.

B&H has the XSi for $649 with a lens right now.

This is a pretty typical experience;

"I tried to buy my Rebel from one of those companies in NY. I had to call to "confirm" my order, only to get a high pressure sales call. It included "your camera will be useless if you don't buy our high performance memory." Took 20 minutes to say no to everything from battery, manual, lense, warranty, camera strap, charger, and memory. When he finally gave up the up-selling, he said "Ok, your camera will ship in 2-3 months." I asked if I could just cancel the order, and he said "Yes" and hung up"

Nice! You have a link to that XSi @ B & H??? All we really want is a regular zoom lense and a wide angle.

orr you can get a Xsi, 18-55 default lens, 75-300 lens, 2gb card from costco for 750 :)

I was just up in grafton and they had that plus a nice case for 820

Those lenses are absolute ****** garbage. Even for consumer lenses.

The memory cards are more then likely knock-offs too. Which will make loosing your pics that much more exciting.

Seriously, Amazon, Newegg, or BH. Anything else is going to be a gamble and a half.

^^ Agreed ^^

Kit lens's are useless. Buy a camera body, do some research and buy the lens that suits your needs.

when did I ever say the lens were good? I have 2 L lenses, but for a new person to a DSLR, the default 18-55 is NOT a bad lens to LEARN on!!

but if you get just the body, get a 80 dollar 50mm 1.8 best bang for the buck lens in my bag.

At my work we buy about 200 cameras a year from B&H. They are a really good company to deal with. They can get pretty much everything too.
