I would like to get a remote starter for both of my winter beaters* but have NO knowledge of which brand/model to go with. I don't need any 'bells or whistles', just something that will start the car from the house successfully.....

[*`89 'plain jane' Taurus / `88 Aerostar, BOTH have ATXs]

Any help (as always) is MUCH appreciated...!!! :dance

Believe it or not, ive put a few of those cheapo ones they sell at walmart into beater cars in the past, they work pretty well and are relativly easy to put in.

Get something that's made by DEI. ex. viper, python, hornet, avital etc. Stay away from cheap bullshit like bulldog, autozone specials etc.

At my work we do avitals, and vipers. I have a viper on mine and it starts from damn near a mile away. And honestly take it to a pro if you are in any way at all unsure you can do it. I've seen some pretty cracked out attempts at remote starts that people buy at fleamarkets, 7mile, ebay, autozone, walmart etc.
