Congress Will Send Obama Stimulus Bill First Day, Democrats Say
By Daniel Whitten
Nov. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Congress will send President-elect Barack Obama (http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Barack+Obama&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1) an economic stimulus package the day he takes office Jan. 20, two Democratic lawmakers said today.
Senator Charles Schumer (http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Charles+Schumer&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1) of New York told ABC “This Week” today the package will be between $500 billion and $700 billion. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Steny+Hoyer&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1), of Maryland, said on “Fox News Sunday” that he believed the Inauguration Day goal would be met, but he declined to put a price tag on it.
“I think Congress will work with the president elect starting now and will have a major stimulus package on his desk by Inauguration day,” Schumer said. “I think it has to be deep. My view it has to be between 5 and $700 billion.”
President-elect Obama (http://search.bloomberg.com/search?q=Obama&site=wnews&client=wnews&proxystylesheet=wnews&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&filter=p&getfields=wnnis&sort=date:D:S:d1) said yesterday he aims to save or create 2.5 million jobs in a two-year plan to stimulate an economy facing a “crisis of historic proportions.”

Is that for the failed businesses so their CEOs can go to a spa resort? Or is that for the people?

I wouldn't mind another check...although I don't know how much it is actually going to affect our economy.

That's the stimulus bill that should have been passed before. It actually does something. It helps fix our crumbling infrastructure, which in turn will provide jobs, which will give people money. That will do a hell of a lot more to help an economy then handing out every Tom, **** and Harry $300.

I'd rather have money back in my 401k, my company doing better, and getting bonuses then a handout from the govt.
