Can I get some advice on some good models.

I want a MIG welder and plan on using a $100 sears gift card.

I have my eye on a craftsman model that runs off of 110-120, can weld up to 1/4 in, does both gas and gassless, comes with a rolling stand, and costs $300. The only thing I will need is a gas tank.

I'm looking to spend up to $500 and would prefer a 110/220 version, but 110 is okay.

Forget about the Craftsman welder. I have heard nothing but bad things about them. You have a 50/50 chance of having one that doesn't piss you off in the future. Please look into a Licoln or maybe even a Miller. Heck, you could check out the Lincoln's over at Farm and Fleet if you're interested. If I remember correctly, the Lincoln w/gas kit is around $550. You can get a tank full of your favorite gas from Praxair in Brookfield. While your at it, get yourself an auto tinting helmet and a decent pair of nice flexible gloves, best investmet I have made for welding yet... so much easier. Makes your whole welding experience fun .
