It won't turn on anymore. Adam has a universal charger so I plugged my Sony Vaio into it and it still won't turn on. No light or anything.

I don't know the "insides" of a computer, let alone a laptop, so I am really stuck here. My guess it has something to do with the plug, or really where you plug the power cord into it because that connection has been "loose" for quite sometime.

I always keep it plugged in because my battery lasts 10 minutes if I am lucky and whenever I use it, I have access to power.

I'm just kind of stuck since it has everything on it - all my school stuff, pictures, etc. I can't afford to buy a new laptop and pay someone to transfer my files over, but I was hoping to find somebody that could take it apart (I took the screws out of the bottom and hoped it would just come apart real easy but I had no luck) and check the power connection.

If you know of anybody, please let me know. I know Jeff (Wikked) knows computers and he has worked on my laptop before, but I don't recall if he knows the "insides" of them either.

Any help would be great.

I miss the porn. :goof

Take the battery out, plug it in, see if it boots up.

Wiggle the power cord till you see a light.

If nothing works. throw it the fuck away and get something better instead of sony garbage.

Had what sounds like a similar problem with my old toshiba lappy, still had the warranty so best buy had to re-solder that connection. Took em forever but it worked fine after that..

I stay away from taking apart laptops though.

Hope someone on here can help, otherwise you can always pay best buy or something :(

if you wiggle the connector and the light goes on and off its the actual port thats fucked. Its easy enough to get to. Find someone with good soldering skills and open that bitch up

Problem #1: Universal Charger...

Are you sure it's "powerful" enough for your laptop...

sounds like the power supply inside is junk then if wiggling cant fix the problem. i remembe when i was looking at used laptops this guy that fixes and sells them had one that did what myles was talking about. the port inside where you plug it had broken off the board or something so i guess check that as well

Might be as simple as a fuse... do you or does anyone you know have a multi-meter that can check the voltage output on the AC Adapter? If it does turn out to be a fuse, junk that AC adapter because chances are something's wrong with it.

I've had Vaios apart before... they're a pain like any laptop... but I've dealt with worse.
