There are 5000+ free places who want to put up there
banners on your free site, anybody familiar with any
decent ones?

My 10+ year old AOL Easydesigner site closed up shop,
was realy easy to click and drag, resize and modify with
no HTML code, simple applet windows using Java. I've
been experimenting with a few like 0catch.com and other
ones that have web builder sites but there popups are
horible (get what you pay for I know!). Any popular
ones out there (other than mystalkerspace.com), if you
key word search "free web sites" on google you get a
million replies but not real people rating them just ad's.

It is pretty damn close to free but at alwayswebhosting.com, last I heard, if you use the code "happynewyear" in the coupon code area when setting things up you get something ridiculous like 90% at checkout. So if you pay a year up front it gets really cheap.

That is as close to free as I know that has a reliable backend.

Here is one I tried tonight, 20 minutes to sign in and after in it was
easy to setup:
Deleted because it popped up porn!
So if you popup blocker is good you have one window to close,
unfortunately as you can see in my test text there are lines
coverd with the banner! I'll try a few more if my eyes hold up.

Is there a reason that you don't want to pay $100/year for something that isn't retarded?

For the same reason I build intake manifolds from downed light poles....Im cheap!

I tried another tonight, in my sig area it doesnt have any popups to click off and will expand plenty big for me. Didnt put any color or other crap on there but I'll play with it, should be fine for just posting pics and drunken text.

I'm cheap too. I use my tax id number to pay for it. The place I have mine through will credit my business for any hosting I "refer". So I refer myself. haha.

I'm also a coupon junkie. Bought a APC 1300VA UPS for $103 from Circuit City and a electric blanket for $72 from JCPenney today.

My old lady is on the "free stuff" boards, when the UPS guy rolls up he'll have a case of candy bars, tampons and a jimmy Buffet blender in hand!

These ladies have free stuff and coupons down to a science.
The chick at the grocery store has to have a manager come
and override her drawer because the saving limit or free
items locks up the Pick N Save register...chaching!

Got about 20 Mach 3 razor packs jamming up the bathroom
drawer this week....free!

I tried the free ones and they are more aggravating than paying a 100 bucks at lunarpages...awesome load times- unlimited storage/bandwidth data bases ect...

Uh oh, somebody's "old lady" is a slickdeal junkie. What places does she haunt? I don't usually go anywhere but there and bensbargains anymore. We tend to abuse double-coupon Wednesdays at pick'n'slave otherwise we have quit shopping there because their prices have gotten so ridiculous. I wish the Kmarts around here did coupon doubling. There are a lot of deals out there but if you don't pay attention you end up buying shit just because it's cheap. Or at least I do. haha.

Iweb is less than 2 bucks per month if you pay in advance for long-term...

The thing to be aware of, when you use cheapo "unlimited bandwidth" hosts, is that you better read the fine print in detail. Most of them basically say that if you start hosting videos and MP3's and start being a draw on the server, they can terminate your account without warning.

You also will find that the versions of PHP, MYSQL and general server security are either old and out of date or your website can be hacked by a bored 12-year old.

I've always used better quality server space. You get what you pay for. I'm on a dedicated machine right now and we can host hundreds of videos and I never worry that some other person in a different partition on the "shared" type severs is running some script that is drawing everyone else's sites down.

If you are doing mostly "static" stuff, or you run a site with low traffic, then yea, freeware stuff and low cost hosting will be fine for you. Just make sure you back up your files at least once a week...

Spoofee is one of her new one's.

I used to hate coupon people until we went shopping
on a double CP day....holy crap! 20%, double with a
60% manufacture coupon and stuff is free!
