Sweet! Congrats on a nice SUV. I am still torn between that and an SRT8 Jeep.

Time for a Tommytune.

Nice mike, Im assuming the truck is gone?

88Nightmare
11-15-2008, 05:24 PM
still got the truck. and the saturn.

Honestly, I love the SS and the SRT8. Both have their own unique styling, but for me, I just love the smooth flowing curves of the SS better then the chisel cut look of the SRT8. Both are a blast, and so far this SS is very enjoyable.

looks just like a scoop sean and i saw on a NISSAN truck on the way to see YOOSOF today....so ..i may have to go out on a limb here and say...RICE....but it's your truck Bubba...

kinda like the SS...but i don't have the cash flow you do to buy something that new...maybe you'll let me pound on it...

Your mom is gonna look HOT driving that truck, once she loses the hood scoop that is.

Nice ride Mike... If the hood scoop is gonna come off.. we should put it on my vette... :rockwoot:

hood scoop was on there from the previous owner. I cant remove it because whoever installed it drilled through the hood. So it will have to stay until I can afford to buy another hood.

That sucks. What can ya do though. At least it's not ridiculously huge or obnoxious. You buy it at Holz? If so, I saw it the other day...

holz ftw. they were awesome through the whole process, very pleased.

This apparently isnt the one you purchased? That or there was some hood swapping going on at the dealer.....

11-15-2008, 09:03 PM
I think the one Mikes family bought has 17,000 miles on it. That rings a bell for some reason.

88Nightmare
11-15-2008, 09:04 PM
they had two SS's in stock. Both 2007's. Both silverstone metallic. Both AWD and loaded. One with 18k miles, the other with 17k miles. I got the one with 17k miles :)

Breecher_7
11-15-2008, 09:05 PM
I would have opted for the one with 18K and the normal hood personally! Regardless, there cool. I think your going to forget all about your truck with that thing. Go back to the dealer and ask them to swap hoods... :rolf

88Nightmare
11-15-2008, 09:07 PM
personally..... they cut more of a deal with the one with the scoop. it has 1k less miles, and already has about $1,300 in go fast goodies on it already. seemed like a no brainer to me. I can look past the scoop.

Congrats on the new truck/suv/whatever you want to call it. I agree on the hood scoop.

I always wished they would put the molding on the doors like the normal Trailblazers.

What are the blackouts in between the directional and headlight BTW ?
Also what happened to the "brake cooling duct intakes" in the lower valance ?

Looks good, scoop or not. If I could justify getting rid of my LeSabre and taking on car payments I'd be pimping a TB SS or GTO.

I always wished they would put the molding on the doors like the normal Trailblazers.

I've always liked the fact they don't have extra moldings, looks cleaner to me.

vector motor sports has a supercharger kit for those and they will tune you... epic awd launches

How much would it cost to have the holes filled and then have the hood repainted. I couldn't see it being that exspensive.

Nothing wrong with the scoop. It doesn't have visible pop rivets.

88Nightmare
11-16-2008, 02:01 PM
the black vents below the headlights are just that.... vents. The driver side is just for looks, the passenger side is functional and is one of the inlets to the airbox.

And I like it without the door moldings.

And the brake cooling ducts..... I think those may have been on a prototype but I havent seen one with them. I couldnt picture why anyone would remove them.....

thanks. I forgot what its like to have something fast again. Its been a couple of years. The SS is a blast to drive. Even just hittin passing gear on the freeway is fun. I love the torque of the LS2

I think the jeep looks better..... BUT... Everyone knows how easy the LSX engines pick up power.....

thanks john. Like I said, both trucks have their own unique styling, and I love em both, but when it came down to it, while the SS may be a tad slower, it is generally cheaper then a comparable SRT8, has the 5/100 warranty, and I do love the smooth curves of the SS.

but I do wanna line em up john. I know you turned a 13.1 (if memory serves me correctly) bone stock. Guys on my TBSS forum are saying they reported factory quarter mile times ~ 13.5ish. So with the exhaust and intake on my truck, plus a future tom tune, it may be a real close match. But either way, I'd love to line em up for fun.

I'll take on the SS with a Jeep for the snow drags. Its not a SRT8 but I can handle my own.

LoL, the car tyres on the SS are such a hindrance that a 4 bangin Jeep can beat it ? :rolf :thumbsup

You'd be surprised. Those RS-A's suck a$$hole in the snow. I had them on my jeep as well. Even my Toyo Proxes ST's are better int he snow than the crapyears.

yours wont be as bad since you have the 255's on all 4 corners, and I dont believe yours are runflats either. Mine were the runflats which are hard, and don't like the cold weather, as well as the 285's in the rear....
