Anyone have any recommendations for a quality camcorder around $300?
I'm looking for a flash memory camcorder that's easy to use and easy to upload vids onto computer to edit. I'd be shooting car vids with it.

Here is the Canon FS100 which I'm looking at.

Seems good, but I heard it records vids in some weird format that won't work with Windows Movie Maker which I normally use.

Also, how useful/worth it are external microphones?

I think you can get one of those JVC Everios in that price range now as well. I have an early model and love it.
