Before i get into all of the pictures, ill give a little info about the car.

My Dad picked up this car from a guy about 2 years ago, always wanted a project car since letting go of his 69' Camaro. I've been into the car and the possibilites since the beginning but never had the time nor money to get things moving. For those that know me well, can attest i have been saving for a LONG time and almost pulled the trigger on a few cars of my own but decided to let them go to see what comes along later in life.

Well as of late, the engine in our 66' started to get real weak and wouldn't turn over for the life of it. The Brakes were ABSOLUTELY terrible and would pull be incredibly hard to the right almost killing me a few times. The entire floor was rusted through and we knew that needed to be fixed sooner or later. We love the looks of the car and with it being black i fell in love.

We have been tossing around ideas of what we wanted the car to be and just lately started to share the same ideas. And with my pops leaving for a week long hunting trip (a month ago) i pulled the pin and pulled out the engine/Tranny while he was gone as an early christmas present! It didnt go over well at first but as time went on he started to get fired up about the possibilites of the project. So here we are today!

I met Mr. Plimpton when dealing with Race fuels for his Thunderbird which just happens to be the FASTEST PUMP GAS CAR in the country! And just from meeting with him i could tell we were a lot a like. Ford Lovers! Old School car lovers, and shared the same ideas for this car right away! He gave me his word that the car would be incredible when he was done! And to this point he has delivered 110%.

Dennis/Corey/Ryan and all of the other guys working for Jim all do amazing work and i felt incredibly comfortable with my pop's car in their hands.

We've got some big plans for this car, but ill start with the pictures!

Starting with how it looked before i pulled the trigger....

The guy who had the car before us, half assed the entire car and after realling getting to see things with everything torn apart it made me sick to my stomach knowing we put our lives on the line driving that car!!!

Here are the major rusted areas that Jim and his crew have been working on!
I forgot to save the pictures of the entire floor, but it was completely rusted out and had huge holes with some 1/8" thick steel metal covering the holes.

Nice :) I'm assuming you got the same single piston drum brakes that I have in my 66. That hard pull to the side on braking can make you shit your pants sometimes :) You doing a disk conversion? I've always wanted to but it's damn expensive. What motor/trans/rear are you putting in? Got any leftover parts?

The ugly patches on the tunnel and trunk floor are to protect the inside from the sand blaster. It is on its way there.
We will finish out the underside so there will be only factory seams- no tell-tale signs of floor replacement.
This car will be stinky-fast!:devil
but you didn't hear that from me!!:confused

Discs... nice :headbang

Really all I need for mine right now is a passenger door window crank and maybe a new steering box. My passenger window is messed up hehe :(

Well that and maybe a 9" if you have an extra for a 66 lol. Right now I'm running a 3.55 8" locker.

Still didn't answer the motor question. Or is it secret.

Thank you very much! When it came down to chooseing what i really wanted to do with either helping my dad with this car or building my own....i took it out for one last drive and got 2 thumbs up from random people within a 5 minute cruise.

You just don't get that kind of respect with a newer style car. And i could never afford to build my own car to the point this one is being built so it was a no brainer!

You're very welcome! I know exactly what you mean about the attention older cars get, and it really is an awesome feeling to get that kind of notice from people while driving around. It's like in a way, the old ones carry a little piece of their own era with them, and everyone can feel/respond to that. Can't wait to see more pics as you get them! :)

Evidence please...

Following the rules of the pump gas drags, yes it is considered the fastest. Procharger calls it so, so does Steve Morris-please visit their websites to see.
Procharger gave me recognition for having the fastest blow through pump gas car also by these rules. Anything is debateable, but until someone can go 7's on less than 11.2' treadwidth, weighing at least 3300(without driver), and do it on 93 octane through exhaust in a street car and challenges me (or accepts the challenge- one Viper did not) I guess they are right. Vipers fastest run was 7.99 to date (in Memphis). I may continue to use 93 throughout next year, I am not sure. ANYONE can add race gas and take the edge off of a tune-up, that takes no talent whatsoever. To me this is a learning process because not many attempt it. Damn, me and Lee Saunders are close, and I was willing to drive to Florida to do it, it would have been a blast. Oh well, until someone steps up....
