One of 7 factory-built AF/X Lemans recently showed up on Ebay...the ad originally had a buy it now of $4000! The current owner got the car due to years of unpaid storage fees. :wooo

Check out the auction and photos. It might not look like much but its apart of GM history. Read the questions and answers at the bottom also to see how this thing unfolds. In restored condition, the car is easily worth $400k.....

notice that the front tow bar is still connected to the car....also, the factory headers were in the trunk with the balance pipe.

This car would have had an aluminum front clip originally which is gone, 421SD motor and 4-speed transaxles....unobanium parts for sure unless you have DEEP pockets! But one of the comments in the ad says that they original clip could find its way back to the car. Talk about winning the lottery!

This is probably one of the coolest finds to come about to the collector car market in quite some time

here is the ebay ad.

either way, the guy with the auction, and the guy with the clip are gonna make out like bandits right now. If i won the lottery, I'd be calling the guy right now.

If it's really that rare and obviously worth some coin even as it sits, why didn't someone hit the BIN for $4,000...??? :durr

i think the first auction, the guy didn't know what it was.

someone pointed it out instead of bidding and keeping mouth shut for steal of the century :) haha

the current owner had no clue what the car was etc...he knew it was an old drag car but never guessed it was something like this. Like I said, the car was taken to cover debt for storage.

There was a lot of speculation as to what the car was when the auction first went up...but the fact that the aluminum front end isn't on the car, the original 4 speed transaxle was missing as well as the motor....it "appeared" to be another old car with unknown history. I can't believe somebody didn't pull the trigger though anyways with the old plates riveted to the dash etc....I'm sure a few people THOUGHT it could be the missing Stan Long Pontiac car but seriously, what are the odds that it really is the actual car? This car hasn't been seen since like 1969

at 4g's, it woulda been a bargain either way with all the stuff that's included.

you know what's funny... i almost bought that Catalina for $4g's.... Imagine if this had popped up and I just plain old didn't want to wait for another car any more, and picked it up. Not saying I for sure would have, but would have been funny, haha

oh yea...no kidding. $4K is a decent price for one of these cars usually anyways! Figure, buy the car for $4K.....you find out what it REALLY is. Take out a loan for $100K to get the car restored. Sell it at Mecum or Barrett-Jackson for $400K. Not a bad investment!

Some idiots gotta ruin it for the rest of us....:goof

The guy listing it sounds like a real toolbox too... "blah blah blah, no paypal, blah....bring a duffle bag of the green stuff"

Without the aluminum front end I'm shocked its climbing like that?

the aluminum front end they know where it is. so the owner(or new owner) will be able to get in contact with it and purchase it to have the whole complete car again.

that thing is gonna be a million dollar car when it's finished, gauranteed.

the complete longblock might still be in tact also so at this point, all the owner needs is money to unit those items...which anyone playing with these cars has the money to get this thing restored.

I dont know if I'd sell it through Ebay though.... don't you have to pay a certain percentage of the selling price of the car??

What's sad is whoever has the motor and front end probably wants a fortune for them.
