I'm curious, do the write-in votes even get counted? I put my ballot into this paper-shredder-looking electronic box, that got me thinking. I dont see how, if a ton of people wrote-in Ron Paul, how could it even be counted? I dont think there is a group of people that tally the write-ins, is there?

It seems to me that there is only a write-in spot because we are given that right. Not that it matters?

I agree Dan. I wrote in Superman for our district attorney ( she is running unopposed and I can't stand her ) and I really think the machine must just count the "other" spot you filled in and not the actual name. I don't really see how it could count it.

My understanding is the ballot is flagged for the George Bush stormtroopers who will soon be arriving at your house to "silence" you. :D

Actually, as I said, I think the ballot is flagged and has to be hand counted later. The "paper shredder" as you put it, can't read your handwriting... it only knows that you filled in the line for a write in.

I can't believe those write-ins are actually counted though.

My parents work the poles. The machine puts them in a separate basket and they count & record the names at the end of the night. They get turned into the elections office.:thumbsup

The main problem is those ghey markers they put out there that bleed into the paper. If you actually write a real name in there, there's just no way 90-year-old eyes can focus through bifocals to determine what you wrote. I wrote in a name in every race.

In all reality I think the write-in portion is included for the same reason they have pedestrian buttons on stoplights and door-close buttons on elevators. It's just a passifier that doesn't really do jack shit.

Is there a place to find the total results of write-ins?
