While I agree that it's not a reason to vote for someone.. You have to somewhat agree that A LOT of people probably voted for McCain simply because of his race, to avoid the other race getting the win... People voting simply to keep him out...

just reposting what I said in the other thread,

It's sad to say, but it's easy to say both candidates will screw us over, but as I see this that is not true, after placing your trust into one man, and things go foul, its hard to have that trust again... It's easy to place blame, and even easier to project this blame onto future presidencies, go into this with an open mind. I could state a very liberal biased statement now such as "it can't get any worse than bush" but I won't it's totally NOT true, of course things could be worse, atomic war, beyond repairable economical downfalls, natural disasters, some things you just cant control. you just need to place trust in those who lead us, and provide your say and make sure it's heard. It is upto us to decide. A nation of many not of One.

Middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan.

I look at it this way. The campaign was NOT about issues.

Obama accused McCain of being the second coming of Bush, and told the middle class that the EVIL "rich people" are going to have to cough up more dough and spread it around.

Add to the fact that alot of people wanted to see history made with electing a black (but hes really bi-racial) man.

Top it off with the media being COMPLETELY biased toward Obama, and the amount of money that the Democratic party spent,it was an impossible mountain to climb for McCain.

Why cant we focus on issues, and not all that other shit?

Stop saying...Black man, white man, Arab, Jew, ETC.....And call him an American.

I love America, but I just think with what I see EVERY DAY from the younger generation (and some older) is that they EXPECT certain things to be given to them, and look to the GOV to take care of them.

That is not what the country was founded on.

Life aint fair. I wish I had a trillion dollars.....but I dont. Somebody wishes that they had the $$$ I got (or lack of). Whatever. That is why my relatives came here. Busting ass can yeild rewards, and sometimes it does not. I would like to learn to be more SELF-RELIANT, not increasingly reliant on handouts.

when I voted, I looked beyond the color of the skin, and looked past a lot of the policies because congress has a final say on stuff, and tried to decide who would be a better leader in general. My choice was mccain. Its a shame how many people vote based on color. Obama got the minority vote..... I wonder why.....

small to medium sized business is totally screwed for the next 4-8 years. Especially in high-tax states (HERE) you can actually keep more money by making less. Most people seem to forget that entrepreneurship is what builds the most wealth in the United States, and is by far and away the best and most likely oppotrunity for the average person (most of us) to build wealth through hard work and innovation. Wealthy people are not stupid, they're just going to hunker down and sit on their cash, and defer long/short capital gains until the tax climate is favorable again in years to come. Tax them all you want, there won't be any significant realized gains to tax. If you would lower their tax climate, they would realize substantially more gains and actually pay more taxes than the prior. I wish more people really understood the economic ramifications of both parties. You have to incent the businesses, they're the ones who CREATE and MAINTAIN the jobs! Hello!!?! I'm obviously a republican, but Obama is a *much* better salesperson and public speaker than McCain. I'm not surprised he won at all. If I had to pick one or the other just based on their public presence without examining any substance or policy, I would vote for Obama. Thye devil is in the details. It's pretty easy to buy votes from citizens who don't pay taxes. Just tell them they're getting something for free for doing what they do best: nothing. Guess what folks, that's 40-45% of our voting public. And that stat grows every year. Not good. The more programs and incentives we put in place for people who do not contribute economically to our society, the more people we are incenting to do so. Please don't get on your soap box and tell me about the poor starving/challenged/whatever people who need our help. Believe me I know there are some of those out there, and programs are in place for them. The point I am making is we are making it easier and easier for more people to pimp the system for cash they could be making on their own by getting off their ass and going to work every day like most of us have to do. I don't know about you guys, but I get pissed when I hear about people living off the government because they found some dumbass program they could sink their bloodsucking teeth into and get some free money. That money has to come from SOMEWHERE!!!

Work harder everyone, millions upon millions on welfare are depending upon you!

OK. Im done.

Prince Valiant

Meh...there are people DELIGHTED that Obama won. They generally feel that liberty comes from the government. They see welfare as "liberty", or healthcare as "liberty". They see Liberty as a favor, doled out by the goverment. They see the result of the hard work of others, and feel bitter; wishing the power of the government to take what is not theirs.

While others are disappointed in the Obama victory. They feel liberty is a gift given to all, and as such, feels that a "government of the people" is there to simply defend that liberty. They don't look to the government to give them gifts taken from the hard work of others.

Obamaniacs will be very disappointed rather soon into his presidency. He won't be able to hide behind empty, but eloquent words anymore. With his agenda, will come the details...and as the old saying goes, there they'll see the devil. Though the dems gain power (though not fillibuster proof) in the senate and house, there will be extreme pressure to moderate his goals.

We'll see he has no political courage (he who couldn't leave a church of weekly racist america bashing, or disassociate with KNOWN unrepentant domestic terrorist). Where is the courage in saying that he's against gay marriage, but refusing to support a bill banning it? Voting "present" time and time again? In being dishonest about his unwillingness to codify giving basic medical treatment to a baby that survives an abortion attempt?

We'll see he's not "post-racial" anything. His defenders (and he doesn't discourage this either) defend him saying it's racist to call him a "socialist", community organizer, a celebrity, mentioning his middle name, and more. Heck, it's (according to Slate) racist to call him "skinny". Let's not forget, it was "the one", and only Him who said "...and did I mention? He's black!"

I will say right now though...he WILL be a one term president (barring war, or an attack on the country). Looking at the battleground states that generally fall republican, it's hard to envision during this time that he'll increase his leads in those states...states like FL, OH, CO, NM, and much much more. Obama, next time, won't be able to hide behind empty words...he'll finally have something he's been missing this WHOLE election cycle: A record (actually...he HAS a record...just the media essentially refused to delve into it).

FDR brought us the "New Deal" which helped start us down the long road to socialism and keep us in a depression for an extra 7 years, according to a recent UCLA study.

LBJ brought us the "Great Society" and the "War On Poverty" and $6 trillion dollars in shared wealth later, we have more failed social policies, and freeloaders looking for hand-outs than ever before.

Obama (or BHO in this case) is nothing but a greasy used car salesman and he and his Marxist/socialist/fascist regime will usher in what I'm calling the "Great Deal". We're all fucked. It's just that some of you retards are far too goddamn stupid to see it yet.

All this talk about race is only gonna hurt, people here are friends. Things that may be said could change that once some show their true colors, some have even insulted the guy who runs this show, and we all know he has WAYYYY too much on his plate to deal with this crap, so KNOCK IT OFF.

If you are gonna type a reply, THINK before you type. You may portray yourself in a way you dont want.

I even was told we needed to leave ASAP because gorillias were in the village area causing havock and were planning on attacking the base.

I'll give Obama the benefit of the doubt. As a true american, we need to rally and support whoever is in office. Overall this is an unfortunate outcome, and like Prince Valiant said I don't think it will be long before the bottom falls out of Obama's words and promises. I'd love to see all this change implemented in a good way to benefit all of us hard working individuals out there but I'm afraid we have a meager outlook ahead. The cost of dam near EVERYTHING should be going up soon once Obama starts enacting his plans so save your pennies now everyone. You like paying $3.50 for a box of cereal? It'll be a memory once he taxes businesses. All goods and services we like will cost more under Obama. We should feel a double hit here in a tax-heavy state on top of that.

That should not be the the reason you vote for someone.

Not as much as what you would think, there was something bigger on people's minds it would appear;

Twice as many of those polled Tuesday said age was an important factor in their vote as those who said race was.

Among those factoring age into their vote, 78 percent went for Obama to 21 percent for McCain, exit polls showed.

Those who said race was an important factor voted 55 percent to 44 percent in favor of Obama. But Obama also was the winner by a similar margin among those who said race was not important, "which suggests that race was not a decisive factor in this election

Those that are happy for Obama and think he won this election legitimitly, you are some sad (probably brainwashed) mother fuckers.

Not much fun to be a minority is it?

The way I see it he pretty much bought the election. Then the other part is all those dumbasses that voted for him because of his "color." Honestly it's sad it really is. I'm not gonna say the voting system was abused but in reality it was. Think of all the familys (from that ethnic group) that made their 18+ year olds go out and vote. Kids who would have never voted because they'd rather be hanging out with their gang or selling drugs.

Those that are happy for Obama and think he won this election legitimitly, you are some sad (probably brainwashed) mother fuckers.

Hmmmm kinda like how Bush legitimately won in 2000:eek:

Hes as white as he is black...that doesn't matter but apparently some on both sides don't want to look at it that way.

Only time will tell if he makes changes, I'm willing to be everything that not that much gets changed. Lots of promises to live up to.

Some people voted for McCain not because of Obama's color or lack of it.

Jeez louise...Iraq WAS an issue through the 90's. What the hell did Clinton do abou it? Lobbed a couple missles? Why? Because HE said their weapons program continues unabated and they plotted to assassinate GHWB. These were the guys who routinely defined the supposed "will" of the UN, and yes...incurred Sanctions. But did these sanctions hurt Saddam? No, just increased the suffering of the Iraqi people (of which it was estimated 35,000 children died monthly due to saddam NOT using "oil-for-food" money to buy the required medical supplies...nope, he built 7 new Palaces instead). Here was a guy who routinely threatened both his own people (see the 600,000 shiites he killed, and 350,000 kurds he killed since gulf war 1) and the supposed peace keepers (it was not an uncommon occurrence that pilots patrolling the "no-fly" zone would have missles locked on them, fighters scrambled to them, and sometimes, even random missiles fired at them), and tried to keep a belligerent influence in the region by appearing to HAVE a WMD program (he admitted that they tried to appear to be developing WMD's to intimidate nieghbors). GWB said he WOULD take a tougher tack on Iraq prior to 2001.

These guys weren't problems at all!

There's no interest the US has in a peaceful Iraq. None at all. He was a good guy anyway! No threat to Isreal. No threat to the Saudi's. No threat to Jordan. No threat to Iran (even though they aren't our "friend", it still would not be helpful if those two were back at war with each other). Nah, Not at all.

WHY did 9/11 occur? Well, it was in no small part due to the presence of US troops on Osama Bin Laden home turf of Saudi Arabia...this was the chief reason he declared Jihad on the US (another reason he cited? the cruel sanctions the world imposed on Iraq!). Why were the troops in Saudi Arabia?!? If you said to contain Saddam, go to the head of the class!

So how would we continue to "contain" Saddam if the presence of US troops was so inflammatory? Go to Syria? Yeah, fat chance! Iran? Pfft! We already had troops in Kuwait.

With the prevailing knowledge that Saddam had WMD's prior to GWB's election, the knowledge that the reason we needed to keep such a large and inflammatory troop presence in the Middle east was due to Saddam, if GORE had STOLEN the election of 2000, he'd have CERTAINLY gone to war with Iraq post 9/11.

And yes, Gore tried to STEAL the election...quit stating otherwise. 1)GWB received more votes and 2) the supreme court decision to stop the endless recounts in FL was due to the fact that US law requires the states to follow their election laws that are in place on the day of the election, which called for one machine recount statewide and NO hand recounts...while FL supreme court tried to change those laws post election to account for hand recounts in select counties (despite a lower court ruling that there shouldn't have been). USA today newspaper went back, looked at the results and found, yes...GWB would have won regardless. GET OVER IT!

Apparently race really is a big deal for this election. Looking at the front page of the paper this morning we didn't elect our 'next' president, we didn't elect the '44th' president, we elected the "first black" president.

Reading that this morning highlights my disgust for politics and the media.

I'm slightly happier that Obama beat McCain, but when you have to choose between a douche and a turd sandwich no one really wins.

Wow...I just read through 9 pages. I will agree with what most people have said on here. It's going to be a hellish 4 years, and I have yet to hear one valid argument as to why anyone actually voted for Obama.

We are a country full of ignorants. stupidity is now the majority and intellect the minority. Everything is looked at in the short term and nobody ever takes into account the what if's and 1/1,000,000's. God forbid the terrorists try and test this Barrack Hussein Obama because he'll show them exactly what he'll let them get away with and they'll do it time and time again and YOUR fellow countrymen, perhaps even friends and family will perish at the hands of Barrack Heussein Obama and his wonderful "foreign policy"

This sums it up right here....

Honestly, the majority of voters have no clue about anything....they just see a black guy, and vote! He's gonna help me, he's gonna pay my mortgage. I help him and he'll help me. What a crock of shit. All he is, is a smooth talking bullsh!tter. He's a freaking coward who wants to take no responsibility for any of his actions (note his "Present" vote, what a fvcking sally b!tch) and when something goes wrong, you can bet your sweet ass he's gonna blame it on everyone else but himself. He's writing checks with his mouth that he cant cash, and if he does cash them, it's coming out of our accounts!

I know personally, I probably won't be affected by his taxes, but people like my parents will. They came to the US 27 years ago with NOTHING, and have worked their asses off to get to where they are, and for what, so this guy can come in, take their hard earned money, and hand it out to some lazy ass mother fvcker who thinks he deserves a handout because he can't go out and find himslef a job. :flipoff2: People who think they deserve a handout should be taken out back shot behind a dumpster.

agreed.

i would like to hear someone give one legitimate reason why they voted for obama, other than "change" from bush and the evil republicans. what part of his "change" will help this country?? what in his "plan" for our country makes someone say "yup that will work". his tax policy is nothing but rhetoric, that will crush small and large business', his national security policy is nothing short of sending care packages to terrorists, and his plan to provide government services at the cost of the working american is communism :confused
