In the spirit of Tom's ATV DISCUSSION thread, here's one for pics.

Here's my old school ancient 86 Suzuki LT250R QuadRacer. Bought it for $300, had to put it together. Bought new handlebars, tires, Douglas .190" wheels, silencer, grips, and hope to do a bunch of stuff to it this winter.

We also have a 2001 Blaster that came from DynoTom and a 1988 Yamaha Moto 4 200 that my girlfriend's daughter drives. Still gotta find a little quad for her 5 year old son.

You really got into that ATV good... You have a very capable machine for a small investment....I do see Quadracers 250s for sale quite a bit on craigslist too !

I thought about selling it for a Shee, but I dont want to pay more money. I doubt I can sell the ZipTie Zuki for enough to get a Banshee with comparable parts (new tires, piped, etc). Any money I would have to kick in I could just put in the 250 instead.

I think right now selling anything is hard? I would like to sell off the Blaster I have to buy the mods the 450 YFZ REALLY needs ( I really think it's quite slow 100 % stock ) ....Maybe if things get better closer to spring I can find a buyer and break even on it....if not I will keep it....Those Quadracers are pretty bad azz from what I have heard???? I like the Banshee but, to tell you the truth a modded Banshee is really just "insane" and you sure would need a ton of open room to even begin to wring one out....If we ever hook up on some BCM group ride sometime you are more than welcome to try out ANY of my quads you want ??? I would like to try out your Quadracer if you don't mind....:shades

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully by spring I will have new plastics, the frame powdercoated, ported cylinder, head work, carb, lightened flywheel, and who knows what else. Hopefully.

We did run the Raptor and Banshee about a dozen times...

It was on a 700 foot concrete track.....

We did change machines and each time it was about the same result....

The Raptor gets the Banshee out of the gates pretty easy and holds a 3 to 4 quad lead until the top of 3 rd gear , then the Banshee pulls within 2 quads of the Raptor when they are both in 4 th. gear , 5 th . gear the Banshee pulls even with the Raptor and once the Banshee goes into 6 th. gear it pulls a 4 to 5 quad lead over the Raptor....

Both machines are hard to launch off the line , the Banshee wheelies about 6 inches between the 1 to 3 shifts....The Raptor wants to wheelie hard in 1 st. gear and keeps the front end down on every other shift....

I think on dirt where the wheels can spin a little it would be better???

The Banshee really has a wicked top end.....when I was on a the Banshee trying to catch up with the Raptor it was pretty neat to be able to reel it in and pass it like it did...

So far on concrete drags it shows the Raptor has it low end and mid and the Banshee has it top end .....might be different on dirt though....

I have a 91 Yamaha Blaster I haven't ridden in 3 or 4 years. I used to race it when I was in Highschool and a lot skinnier.

I think in this picture it had a bored 2mm over cylinder, ported and polished... a milled and swirled head, a DG pipe and silencer, a 28mm PWK carb, UNI filter, no lid, et cetera. Looks like I had the stock seat, stock shocks, swingarm, and bars back on it and my practice tires. The nerfs/bumper/grab bar are MMF/AC racing. Those people probably aren't even in business anymore. haha. It's probably November or December looking picture so I probably had converted it over to winter riding going by the handguards.

Looks like Fall of 1999 going by the fact that I'm working on my old S15 (yes, you counted right, there's 3 boats in the pictures):

BOSS LX & 4I NOTCH are both my nephews and those are the main guys I ride with now....We are ALWAYS looking for more guys to go with though!

There is some place called "Prochs" ( sp??? ) that is supposed to be a good place to ride atv's ? I heard it's behind Andrew Chevrolet in Cedarburg IIRC ?

I have never been there but, if it's a place to ride atv's that close to my home I want to check it out !

I'm also switching over all my atv's to ice tires to try them out on the lakes this winter !

As soon as I get some riding places and dates set up I will let you know !

Nice Gade, I just picked one up myself.

I changed quite a bit of stuff to "make it mine", but it sure is a fun machine now. I totally re-did the snorkels, raised all the vent lines, did the frame mod, did some clutch work, different tires, and last thing to do will be some dyno tuning.

what is this frame mod u speak of

MY FYN 79
08-14-2009, 10:30 PM
http://media.motortopia.com/files/81/album_atv_stuff/4a764a94081c0/tn_full_Renegadeframemod.jpg

1/8" wall, 1.25" tubing, 52.25" long x 3.

Grind the welds off the cap on the back of the frame, slide/pound these tubes in and reweld the cap back on the frame. My X came with skid plates, but with the frame mod, machines without skids cant dent up the frame. Dents in the frame are bad because once the dents are there it makes a great place for the frame to kink if you catch a wheel on a tree or whatever. Any one thats put some seat time on one of these things knows its not hard to get out of control. :headbang

Ricky Bobby
08-16-2009, 07:53 AM
im gonna have to do that does it void the warranty on the machine cause yes i know if ur not careful u can get way outta control fast on this beast :rolf

badass88gt
08-16-2009, 09:38 PM
Yeah I will probably do the frame mod, an HMF slip on, Direction 2 overfenders, some new rims, and thats about it. I'm not interested in snorkels for mine.

Ricky Bobby
08-17-2009, 09:48 AM
yea i need the over fenders, but does the frame mod void warranty cause im off work till wed and i could do it tomm but if it messes with warranty ill just drive it nice till its up

badass88gt
08-17-2009, 08:31 PM
Not sure, may want to check out Can-AmTalk.com and ask there...

MY FYN 79
08-25-2009, 07:04 AM
I'm not sure I understand which warranty its going to void? If you properly do the mod, they will have no idea its in there... and if you have a bad wreck, the frame will fold without the mod, and warranty isnt going to help you there. Its a win-win IMO, but that could just be me.

badass88gt
08-25-2009, 11:28 AM
Did you happen to weigh the steel before you put it in the frame? I'm curious how much it weighs, Ive seen guys talking about using aluminum instead, but to me that doesnt seem like it would be much help.

Ricky Bobby
08-25-2009, 06:35 PM
i read somewhere they said 7.5lbs or something close to that

badass88gt
08-25-2009, 07:09 PM
That sounds incredibly light for 3 pieces of steel welded together 4 1/2 feet long. I would maybe believe that weight if it were aluminum.

Ricky Bobby
08-25-2009, 10:19 PM
eh its only 1/8" cant be to much more, sounds like it could save ur ass though
