Is this guy from WI because a few years ago (like 7-10) a former coworker told me about a guy doing the same thing that he met.

those things are pretty old now, couldn't you just buy one at a decent price used? lol

As cool as that hilborn injection looks on there, that thing is just dyin for twin turbos mounted on those custom headers. lol.

Are you serious???? WOOD????? :lmfao:

NM, i see that was just a form for the body moldings

anthonylubetski
10-23-2008, 06:51 PM
No... It's a full tube chassis. The wood was used to hand mold the panels.

The wood frame was just a buck for forming the metal panels. Let's focus more on the fact that this guy built it in his basement and then had a hole excavated to extract it from his basement.

My all-time favorite car. Wow, that is some work that guy did. I wish I had the skill to build a car in my basement.

serious dedication to make that body from scratch. not much of an engineer though. check the independent rear suspension. Looks a little dangerous.

Could you explain?

Its an IRS with a straight axle style ladder bar. I just don't see how it can work well. Also it's fashioned up with small diameter aluminum rod so how long it will hold 550+ hp to those rear tires is questionable.

Is it my eyes or does it look "better" than the original?
Being a (wannabe) fabricator I apreciate every inch.

got pics of the car you fabricated in your basement?

Russ, you're dead-nuts on with that comment...that car DOES look better than the original.
One thing I did notice that was peculiar....$80,000 house and a $100,000 car! LOL

ok, i give ya props on the Cobra replica, nice ride! But, ya gotta give that dude some credit on the Lambo knock off he made, that car is sweet.

shoo, do you race? that car looks familiar, may have seen it at the vintage races at RA.

I do give huge props to basement lambo guy. I just think that if your going to give a car huge hp and an expensive drive line you should design a suspension to accommodate it. I've run a few track days with cobra but never RA. Car needs way more brake before I can take it there.

I can't believe the guy decided to build it in his basement, and then knocked out a wall to get it out....wouldn't it have been cheaper to just build it in the garage or rent a garage to do it?

not if him and his buddies excavated and pulled it out. I don't know if thats true but that would be the only way it would've been cheaper to do it they way he did.

He has been working on this thing for forever. He used to come up to MFBA @ RA. I kept asking when it would be done. He said he wanted to do some HPDEs with it when it was finished.

I heard the engine run and it sounds fantastic. I believe he did much of the metal fabrication and the wheels were made locally by another friend who was a tool & die guy.

Congrats Ken.

The control arms are 3/4" heavy wall steel and third, it was copied directly from a C4 Corvette. The only change was to add two lower contol arms instead of one . It worked well for years for the Corvette.

FWHP is 515, not 550+.

Ken is an engineer by trade and profession. A huge difference between this car and a kit car.
