2005 Dodge Ram 1500....Yeah, it's got a Hemi :goof

Anyway...

They put it on the rollers and ran the entire test :confused

I though that wasn't necessary with OBDII... or were they just trying to f**k with me because my truck looks modified?

In the end it easily passed :headbang

No clue why they'd do that. Did they try plugging into it?

That happened to me twice, Once was in my 1999 Suburban turned out the fuse that puts power to the OBD II port had blown and they couldn't connect. And the second time I took my parents Buick in and since the battery had recently gone dead, it hadn't stored all the necessary test results in the computer so it came up as not ready on their scanners. They told me they will run it on the rollers if the OBD test doesn't work.

If it has more than 1 of the 7 readiness codes they are looking for incomplete, it wont pass the plug in, then its gotta go on the rollers as a back up.

00' and newer you are only allowed 1 test incomplete 95.5'-99- as many as 2 incomplete and still pass.

what plates do u have? i think if u have (C) or commercial C plates they will run it regardless. are vans at work are "over wieght" on the plates and "exept" from emmissions

The test sta. here doesn't seem to use the dyno's at all anymore, if your readiness monitors are not set they tell you to drive the car and come back in a few days.
I took in a 97 F250 regular cab with a 351 last week and they said "the gvwr is over 8600 so its exempt" I lOl'ed.
They use 1 of 4 bays and plug in only and if your no good you gotta go.
With the F250 I pulled thru the bay and parked and went in the office to get the exemption paperwork and one of the workers was in the little rock garden landscaping sitting on the rocks pulling weeds. :rolf:thumbsup

I try to stick with Farm plates and avoid "ignitions" :rolf:goof

I bet you pulled into an OBD1 spot and they didn't even have the setup to test OBDII. I almost did the same thing, since nothing is labeled.

There shouldn't even be a OBD1 testing spot since they stopped testing of vehicles with OBD1.....:stare

didn't stop testing.... stopped requiring testing.......

So how does that work then...???

you're not longer required to have an OBD1 vehicle roller tested. OBD2 testing is still required , but it you don't pass the easy plugin test for the reasons listed above, they still have to test your car. they'll use the rollers

I don't think we were on the same page, I was referring to testing of OBD1 vehicles.....:thumbsup

Car Guy

They will either have AWD rollers or they will tell you to go to a location that does.....:thumbsup

That's weird that they even put it on the rollers. When we took my buddy's car in for emissions they said they aren't even allowed to use the rollers anymore for anything. All they could do was plug in the vehicle. This was at the West Allis location. They only had two doors open, and she said that's the max that they will have open since the dynos were disabled at that location. She also said that they're planning on removing the dynos in the near future.

When I was working out at the shop in Butler, our 99' K2500 was put on the rollers. I think it might have something to do with vehicle weight.

edit: If I had a WS6 I'd be rockin that shit all year too. Car washes are your friend!

If your vehicle computer will not communicate you are expected to fix the vehicle and pass the test otherwise they just suspend your plates.
Same goes for if you cant make it to the emission test sta. due to working too much.

On an upnote for us tuned to the hilt with O2 sensors turned off and no cats the state government is talking about self serve OBD-II kiosks. Less chance for the clerks to notice that "funny smell" and "super loud modified exhaust". :thumbsup

They have rollers for AWD vehicles. A lot of newer vehicles have AWD so I doubt they would pass on it.

Let see how many of the nitrous "street car" brawl cars pass emissions...

Then you don't pass.

They don't use the rollers anymore...

My excursion is read with the OBDII and then put on the rollers after. The test guy said it was because of the weight rating of the truck.
