Though the Official Car of SEMA this year is the Chevy Camaro, we expect tons of tuners to show up in Las Vegas with the Dodge Challenger. The Challenger has been on sale all year, which has given the customizing crowd plenty of time to modify the new muscle car. None, however, will match the vehicle that Dodge itself is bringing to Sin City.

Meet the Challenger SRT10 Concept, which sports an 8.4L V10 engine graciously donated by a Viper SRT10. You can see the Challenger SRT10 Concept hanging out with a Viper SRT10 ACR in our gallery below, as well as what happens when you attempt to transfer the engine's 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque to the ground through the Challenger's rear tires. Needless to say, enough tire smoke is produced to affect the weather in China. Other mods include a functional carbon fiber shaker hood that feeds air to the voluminous V10, a carbon fiber front splitter and rear deck lid, a new rear spoiler, BILSTEIN shocks at all four corners, larger wheels, bigger brakes and quad exhaust tips out back. More carbon fiber trim can be found in the cockpit along with new sports seats and a red engine start push-button just like in the Viper.

Uh... we likey, but we also want to know how serious an exercise this is. Could Dodge actually build and sell the Challenger SRT10 now that we know the Viper's V10 fits between its front wheels just fine? Is this Dodge's answer to the Shelby Mustang GT500KR? Thanks for the tip, Ben!

Very badass.......Dodge's redemption from the Charger (and semi-failure of the current charger) failure;)

Not as impressed as I thought I would be. A little heavy and a bit underpowered as of right now.

Yeah I agree with that but in terms of styling and nostalgia (sp) it makes up for the charger failure. It at least looks like it should carry the challenger name as opposed to that four door box they call a charger.

That car is insane. They need better hood fitment though

What I find most amazing of that pic, is how small it makes a Viper look. I in no way think of a Viper as a small car. But compared to the Challenger it lookings like a Miata.

i LOVE how that thing looks.....hell if you were to go back to the 60's/70's you'd find a lot of cars that looked very similar to that (paint job/color and the hood scoop)

unlike the charger that looks like an oversized stelth

I know right. For some reason I glanced at the Viper and I thought it was a Lotus.

I also noticed the hood fitment... What's going on here?

the chin spoiler is kinda boy racer but with that motor it will need all the downforce it can get.

Viper IS a smaller car than most expect;

Viper (against 2009 ZR-1 corvette in parentheses)[Miata in brackets]:
wheelbase 98.8 (105.7)[91.7]
Track, Front 61.6 (63.5)[58.7]
Track, Rear 60.9 (62.5)[58.9]
Overall Length 175.6 (175.6---179.0 for gen5 vette)[157.3]
Overall Width 75.2 (72.6)[67.7]
Overall Height 48.6 (49.0)[49.4]
Curb Weight 3,410 lbs. (3,324lbs)[2575lbs]

Aside from the weight of the very solid mercedes based platform, I think the exterior dimension of the Challenger are fine...

I also noticed the hood fitment... What's going on here?Aftermarket fiberglass or carbon fiber hood...obviously not very developed yet.

4500lb curb weight ain't enough? :rolfFor you 350lbs'ers out there I guess it would be...

Both cars are very yummy. I would take the viper over the callenger though. I am just more a sports car guy than a muscle guy. But I would take either in a heart beat. Both amazing cars.

Hilarious as always PV.just pointing out inaccurate exaggeration.

Actually, the weight would be roughly the same for a SRT8 and SRT10 challenger...for the two engines weigh fairly close to each other, with only a slight penalty for the all AL v10 (comes in around 630lbs fully accessorized, while the hemi comes in at 485 w/o accessories...so allow for the two and you're probably looking at a 80-60lbs weight difference?)

I can't believe how harsh everyone is on the Charger. I do think they should not have used the Charger name, but it's a great 4dr family car...

I'm not saying I wouldn't want a Challenger... anyone who says they don't like the Challenger is lying...
