does anyone know the best way to track down an oil leak. i tried degreasing and pressure washing my motor and trying to see the drip was coming from but i still couldn't nail it down.

is there a product out there that will help locate oil leaks?
any tips would be appreciated. i cant stand oil spots in my driveway:fire

Get some UV dye and a blacklight. :thumbsup
Rear mains are usually the culprit on dose trucks and if its coming from inside the bell it could be hard to "track down" the dye will show tho.

I always do the put some cardboard under teh car over night and see where she is leaking from. Then just look around. Always has worked for me.

spray some foot powder in the general area...you'll be able to trace the run to wheres it leaking from, or if it isnt running, you find wheres its pooling and dripping from

X3 for the dye and the uv light. I know you can buy the dye at GM dealerships because they use it to track leaks in oil/trans/ac/PS. I believe you can just use a black light then and the leak shows up clear as day. :thumbsup

Maybe this will help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2llb_AEDO6U :rolf

look for the Ford emblem on the front of the car/truck... you'll find leaks. :goof

I was thinking the same thing!! But I just bought a Ford so I was
keeping quiet :)

I can get you some dye for that leak if you have access to a lblack
light. They may even sell it over the counter these days?

Spray the underside down with Simple Green Max or some other degreaser, take it to a carwash and get an underbody flush (drive in real slow), then check it for new seepage.
