I was pulling my 318 intake off the pickup prior to a
360 swap this week....holy crap where is the #8 EX
lobe???? Smooth with no flaking, lobe was just wore
off, cool I'll get pics up.

Truck ran surprising well, drove around yesterday just
before pulling down the motor and at idle you probably
wouldnt know it had a dead hole under load. Only had
a pop under load above 2000rpm. I guess there are
upsides to having a 120hp motor :)

I've seen this on CAT motors and there is usualy fallout
in the pan and minor bearing scoring, I cant see anything!

A guy said killing a 318 was kinda like finding Bigfoot, lots
of stories but neighter has ever been seen in real life :)

A guy said killing a 318 was kinda like finding Bigfoot, lots
of stories but neighter has ever been seen in real life :)My 365,000 mile 318 wasn't strong when I sold it...but it started and ran, every time.

It literally never showed any oil pressure after an over-revving incident (stupid me wanted to show a 318 could rev past 6,000, so I floored it in neutral, lol)...a spun bearing perhaps? Don't know...but, it still ran over 200,000 miles after that, lol. On a gauge it would show 4-5psi...even at 2,000 rpm, lol.

After 300,000 miles I rarely changed the oil per se....I just waited until I heard
valve clatter and added more. And NEVER once did the engine fail me...
