Yet another thread this morning about a stolen car. What is the best one out there for your car? Lo-jack?:confused

Creating your own kill switch(es) is probably as good as anything. Lojack seems pretty awesome but isn't it pretty pricey too?

www.ravelco.com has a decent device too...

^^ Killswitches are nice until some asshats with a flat bed show up. Lowjack can locate via gps.

Anyone with lojack can you share what it costs installed and if there is a "service" fee or whatnot for monitoring?

Even if you have lojack, you should have some additional anti theft devices...if you don't realize the car is gone until a morning for example, theres a chance its already chopped up and dumped somewhere. Unless I'm mistaken and there is more to lojack than the tracking/locating feature.

i think CarMAX install's Lo-Jacks. Actually IIRC the one on Good hope road does.

Lojack seems to be good but it is about $1000. I think ANY alarm is better then no alarm.

I paid 849.00 back in 2004, installed and the unit it really small. Id rather not say where the unit is hidden. It has an internal battery backup so even if wires are cut its trackable. I really don't think a grand is expensive considering what you pay for a car and the mods you put in to it to make it your personal ride.

I had Lo Jack in my cars when I lived in san diego. Cost me about $900 installed. Good piece of mind. YOu dont see it advertised much here though, not sure if anyone in wisconsin even installs it?

Anyone can install it - but I'd go to a reputable shop like Project Two, I certainly wouldn't trust joe's alarms with that kind of thing.

honestly, if someone REALLY wants to steal your car, they're going to. like Nan said, a flatbed, whatever. for the casual theif, usually a decent alarm is enough to keep them away, hell simply having good tint so they can't see what you have is sometimes good. lets face it, we're not in california, this is wisconsin

still, from my perspective, even if a very good theif took my car, at least the gps will let you know where it is before anything serious can happen
