Hey everyone. I have never really been one to ask people for help, but I guess you have to put your pride aside at times. Back in May, my 12 year-old brother went to school like every other day. Late morning, he began experiencing severe back pain. The office contacted my parents. They took him to Children's Hospital. As the day progressed, he became paralyzed from about mid-stomach down.

He was in the hospital for about a month. He had every test imaginable ran on him. The doctors and specialists could not make an accurate diagnosis. They think it is either Anterior Cord Syndrome or Transverse Myelitis.

Some of my mother's co-workers from the city of West Allis set up a fundraiser. The purpose of the fundraiser is to try and help with funding an addition to the house. Our house is a two-story house that was built quite a while ago. It is not wheelchair accessible by any means. Sam can't access any of the bathrooms. We take him to the YMCA so he can shower. Because his bedroom is on the second floor, we sold a lot of furniture and converted our dining room into a make-shift bedroom.

The fundraiser consists of a raffle for different increments of money for gas. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. The actual raffle is being held on October 24th at the West Allis Senior Center (71st and National) at 5:00pm.

The prizes are as follows:

Grand Prize: $1000 in Gas
2nd Prize: $500 in Gas
3rd Prize: $250 in Gas
4th-10th: $50 in Gas

What I will do is see how many people are actually interested and then maybe set up some times where we can meet. If it is more convenient, tickets are being sold at the West Allis Senior Center. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or call me on my cell at 414-803-8270.

Thanks,

Dan

I will be at the West Allis Culvers (HWY 100 across from bowling alley) on Tuesday at 7:30pm with tickets. If you are unable to make it then, let me know and I can make special arrangements.

We should send a video application to the people who do home make overs for deserving families. But I'll do a twenty, too.

Thanks to all of you! I am thinking I can arrange a time next week to meet somewhere near Hwy 100. I'd even be willing to drive them out and deliver them if people's schedules prevent them from meeting at a given time.

Those of you that have offered your labor, thank you very much. I will keep you posted.

Neal, I am going to check with the people running the fundraiser as I know there are a lot of weird regs involving the raffle license. If anything, I could drop some flyers off. I'll PM you when I find out the details.

Again, thank you all very much!

I was thinking Tuesday, October 14th @ 7:00 at Culvers on Highway 100. Does this work for people? Like I said, if people can't make it, I can make special arrangements. Just let me know.

I won't be able to make it because of a softball game @ 6:15pm, but weekends work well for me.....

Culver's is good for me.

Well depending on how long you are staying at Culver's there is a chance I could make it. Our game will be over by 7:15pm and we are heading to Fujiyama (Hwy100 & National) immediately after that. It would take me a half hour at the most to get up there (7:45pm) and stop in before our late dinner......

Just keep us updated on whether you are going to be there or not and if so how long.....

The Culvers on Hwy 100 across from the bowling alley. Car Guy, I could stick around a little later, no problem.

You can stop over whenever. If you want to help with labor, that would be great. Thanks J!

I just wanted to thank everyone that purchased tickets for the raffle. My family and I really appreciate it. We can't thank you enough. :thumbsup The raffle did exceptionally well. If all goes well, my parents are hoping to break ground by the second week of November.

Unfortunately, nobody from BCM won.:( Thank you all so much for everything!
