My neighbor asked me to take a look at her car, the power steering wasn't working. When the car runs, if i fill up the pump, the steering works fine. as soon as i shut off the engine, it starts shooting out all the fluid out the cap. any thoughts on the issue? I am thinking its the pump, but i really not sure.

She ended up taking it to a shop to have it fixed. I told her it was most likely the PS pump. Never heard back about it.

PS fluid backing into resevoir on a Ford at hard lock or during
shutdown is pretty common on bad Ford pumps, there gearboxs
and racks leak before they go out.

There are Ford PS pumps and then there are every other maker,
ever hear a car pull in your driveway and that PS whine just
gives it away as a Ford? GM has that howl of an empty resevoir,
Dodge shares the same resevoir but Fords make that nasty whine.
