Poast your tank if you got one.

This is my first tank. Fiftyfive gallon with a home made oak stand. Craigslist special. I've only had fish in it for a week. Right now I just have 20 tetras, ten serpae and ten bloodfins. I'm thinking of going with angels and or discus'.

I need to drill a hole in the stand so I can put the power strip n the back.

remember- approx 1" of fish per gallon..so length times total fish should be 55 or less- kinda rule of thumb..I had a hella lot more but was cleaning and 20% water change every 2-3 weeks

Same thing for turtles. 1" of shell length = 10gals of water.

I've got a 30 gallon with a nice mix of tetras, glass catfish, danios, etc. I'll post some pics in a bit.

Water is the key to a nice tank. When I set mine up I got my fish and water from a friend. I went to home depot and got a new trash can to transport the water, and anybody taking my set up I would insist on the person taking the water also. You can't buy this stuff

My setup is a 90 or 95 gallon tank, nice stand,RENA filter (EXPENSIVE), salt, fish, and all the support equipment goes with it.

I just don't have the time for it anymore, or else I wouldn't sell it.

I've heard and read in a few places that this rule is total bullshit. Depends on the species of fish, filter quality and type, amount of an frequency of water changes ect, ect.

its not "bullshit"as you answered exactly what I said!!! I had 80 fish but was changing filters/water every 2-3 weeks...soooooooooooooo if you want to only change water filter ect every 2 months- THEN less fish is the way.....;)

That's one thing that is irking me about this whole fish business, every one wants you to do things their way. A lot of different ways of doing things, and every one thinks they are right. I have a friend who has never done a water change except the time he broke a seal and the tank started leaking. 39 gallon tank and he has no issues keeping fish. Book I bought preaches up and down 50% weekly water changes. It makes getting started a little difficult because you get pointed in so many different directions.

Although after getting terrible service at petworld, I am a fan of Aquatics Unlimited. Awesome place.

Anyone here do live plants?

Before I moved, I had a 15h tank with a bunch of live plants in it. Historically, these tanks tended to do better when I did not change the water. The fish contained were platties and zebra danios.

I use to have twin 40gal tanks, one saltwater with two lion fish, the other with 2 10inch-ish redbelly pirahnna. The red bellys were always fighting, so ended up selling them and getting two alligator gar. Feeding the lion fish and gar was pretty damn cool. I miss the tanks, this thread makes me want to get a setup again.

My 40 gallon saltwater tank. No fish yet, it's only about two months old. Forty pounds of live sand and about thirty pounds of live rock. Two brittle starfish, a banded coral shrimp and 40-50 assorted crabs and snails.

Stew is that a Rena XP series? I just ordered a XP4 for my new 75 gallon.

Here's my other 55gallon:

I also added 35lbs of black sand to the 75 gallon. I'll get some pics up later in the week once I get the XP4 added.

Yeah, rena xp1. came with the tank. Seems to work well enough. 65w t5 light with one lunar LED, not sure of the temp of the light. It, too, came with the tank. I have three small soft corals, you can see in the front of the tank. I wanna get an urchen, but I've been told they'll munch on the corals.

It's true... I had a kick ass red crab in my 10g and I took a pic of him. 2 days later he was gone. I had a snail named Salty and took a pic of him stuck to the side... he's dead.

I don't know what the deal is. I'll just describe my tanks maybe that'll be safe.

I have a 10g with 4 Gold Barbs and 2 African Dwarf frogs in it. The tank is decorated with white and blue coarse gravel, lots of green (fake) plants, and PVC pipes for the fish to swim through.

I also have a 20g long with 1 Gold Barb (the other ones from the other tank were picking on her), a Rainbow Shark, a Pleco, a brown Mystery Snail, 2 Glowlight Tetras, 2 Rasbora Hets and 6 Cherry Barbs (2 male 4 female). The tank has a castle, some carved stones, and a log.

Nothing died yet! If we make it til morning I think we're good. Maybe I'll be brave and take some pics in the morning. Probably pushing my luck :p

My brother has a nice 150g, and my friend Eric is custom building a 230g right now.

I want to buy/build a large tank, however I don't want to do that until I know I won't be moving for a long time. Moving a large setup is a major PITA and a recipe for fish loss.

125 gallon with 1 parrot, 1 frontosa, 1 mbuna cichlid, 1 chocolate cichlid, 2 clown loaches and 2 small plecos. Hard to get a good still shot because the 2 big guys are always chasing eachother.

I got the parrot about 6 months ago and despite their goldfish like appearance they are pretty aggressive! Not to the point where he is injuring any of the other fish, but there is a lot of commotion. They do have a "personality" unlike any fish I've had before and will eat out of your hand (just watch out for the beak!)

Here are my two tanks.

46-gallon bow front

3 feeder goldfish (Whitey is 5+ years old, Jack the Ripper and Hannibal Lecter are 1.5 years old)
1 Algae eater (Hoover is 5+ years old)
6 male white clouds (They are named #1 - #6)
1 guppie (Her name is Laverne and her sister Shirley died recently)
1 possibly dead snail (I think it is hibernating)

Whitey is very photogenic.

Small tank (only a few gallons)

Red Shark (Jaws - he wasn't being nice to Whitey so he got moved here)
2 female white clouds (#7 and #8)
1 Chinese Algae Eater

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g244/reupertm/fish/DSCF0521.jpg

Someday I will have a more "professional" looking tank but feeder goldfish are ridiculously hardy fish. They have moved the same amount of times I have and are still happy as can be!

In your second pic, what kind of fish is that in the center? The black striped smaller one??

The black/blue one is the frontosa, black/orange is a clown loach.

How active is the loach? I saw a 30 tall at that fish store on highway that had 2 of them. They chased each other for at least 30 mins.

They are very active and seem to get along with any fish I have kept them with. My first one grew to almost 7" before he jumped out of the tank.

Building his own? Details?

He has an odd concrete/brick slab in his basement, the prev. owner was trying to build an indoor BBQ (we think). Basically it's a brick and concrete 6' x 3' (approx) slab, about 3' tall, against a wall.

He built a big wood box out of 2x4s and plywood. It's 3-sided, with 2x4 "lips" on the open side to hold the glass in, and lined the whole box with vinyl pool liner.

He's having a piece of tempered glass custom cut to his specs, and putting it in the "open" side, then sealing it against the pool liner with silicone.

I'll see if I can get pics. Should be super slick when it's all done.

Added my XP4 to the 75 Gallon today. Man what a difference. I had a Fluval 4+ and a Zoomed 501 minicanister in there before. Obviously they aren't rated for a 75 gallon tank. I've got the first tray with the coarse foam the middle 2 with biomax and the top with some kind of biobag and fine foam.

Once I finish my above tank basking areas I'll get some pics.
