Just signed up on the site the other day and wanted to say hi.

I have a friend who recommended this forum as a great place for motorheads in Milwaukee. Not sure what his screen name is on here, but I'm sure he'll chime in if he sees the attached pics.

I don't own any V8 muscle, but my 2 daily drivers / toys are a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 and a 2003 Honda 919. Between the 2 of them that's 8 cylinders and well over 350 HP. :D

The Mazda is new / bone stock. My first mod will be some winter tires and steelies so I don't die this winter, then come spring she'll get some help breathing a bit better. The 919 is my 2 wheeled fun. A few minor changes to make it my own but nothing drastic. My best run at the drag strip was an 11.5 @ about 119mph. (She's right at the borderline of needing full leathers to race if she were just a tick faster.) I wouldn't mind taking the bike to a track day, but I don't want to invest in all the gear and have to do all the track prep for a bike and then have to undo it all for day to day commuting, so I'll leave future track fun for the car.

Attached are a couple cell phone pics.

Myles and Neuwave, hi there! And thanks for the warn welcome everyone.

Yep, the ZX2 is gone and traded in towards the Speed3. She was 10 years old and I was sick of fixing transmissions along with all the other random things that kept breaking. It had some random desire to throw timing belts off and I'm not sure why, and now I don't have to care. Now that you reminded me, I have some parts I need to ditch from the Z. I would have liked to keep her or part out some fun bits to people who would appreciate it, but whatever it's just an escort and I happy the headaches are gone.

I just wanted something new that I won't have to worry about for a while. Hopefully I can fight the urge to mod the crap out of the Speed3 and keep it a nice daily driver. Maybe pickup a toy on the side to make fast, or scoop up another bike.

(and as for the cell pics, Nokia N73. I resized them down too. 3.2MP with a Carl Zeiss lense, but like any digital night pics aren't too hot.)

How do you like the hornet? I looked into one before I bought my ZRX, but they seemed kinda bland. Nothing visually inspired about them, none of the revies I read seamed impressed.

The 919 / Hornet is a bike you either love or could care less about. As with most naked bikes it's not quite as sporty and fast as a crotch rocket, and no where near as comfortable as a crusier. While it's not excellent at anything, it's pretty good all around at everything.

It's has power on tap throughout the rev range which makes it great around town for commuting and zipping through traffic in any gear you feel like, and will corner through the twisties like a sportbike about as good as any other bike can on Wisconsin's crappy roads. And the ergonomics let me ride it all day without cramming my balls up my ass.

I wouldn't trade it for anything other than a faster / more up to date version (like the CB1000R Honda builds for the UK).

As for the ZX2 crap, I'm getting around to putting it up on teamZX2. Nothing exciting, just a spare intake resonator delete pipe, strut tower bar, and a spare PCM with programmer I saved. The rest can go to the dump.

Loving the 3 so far. The only problem I see so far is once you have boost you always want more boost!

Did you even look at/ know of /consider a zrx when making your purchase? Just wondering. ZRX is stupid fast and all day comfortable with as many mods as your budget can support. Plus it has a look that will stop people in their tracks.

ZRX's are hot bikes. But one thing I wanted in a new bike was fuel injection. I am sick of screwing around with quad carbs on bikes, and with FI it just works.

Maybe as a toy on the side, but for day to day driving and zero maintenance, the 919 has been excellent.
