I built a 4 place ATV trailer and I used wood planks for the floor, but I'm not too crazy about it. Does anyone have a hookup for aluminum material that I could use, either sheets or planks? The trailer is 8'1/2"x12'. Thanks-Dan

3 4'x8' sheets of aluminum wouldn't be cheap. What thickness do you need... 1/8" (10 gauge)?

You sure you want to use soft aluminum?

Aluminum sheets would work better, cant weld the steel to the frame.

I'd say use a sheet of steal and bolt it to the frame. Aluminum is expensive and dents super easy. Is the wood treated? If so, it shouldn't be a problem?

I used 1x8 treated boards but the problem is theyre breaking under the force of tying the ATVs down.

I wouldve used 2x8s but wanted to keep the weight down.

How are you strapping them down?

Ratchet straps. I may be a bit overzealous as a buddy of mine had one go for a ride once.

Just get 4 steel strips and sandwich the boards between 2 in front and 2 in the rear. Weld some of these eye hooks to the steel, and your good to go.

I have these in the floor now. The board is breaking around them. I may be able to get some aluminum out of semi trailer flooring.

They are freaking 1x8's, you can't install something meant to be installed in a 2x8 and expect it to hold up the same :)

Hence reinforcing the floor with steel.
